I also prefer 3rd person view in TW2, the combat system IMO doesn't 'fit' very well to a 1st person view.

There's lots of rolling/jumping involved and I doubt this would translate well into 1st person view.

Of course, options are always nice to have.

I'd love to see a Hybrid system like Jedi Outcast had - third person when you have weapons out, first person for the rest. For this type of acrobatic combat first person certainly is not the useful choice, but with M&B on the other hand it feels very natural.

Wonder how Skyrim will handle it.

I agree, the combat and view system in Jedi Outcast was excellent. M&B is quite a different beast since it offers much more realistic combat, but then Geralt is a mutant monster slayer and not your average medieval fighter. wink

Skyrim will most probably handle it as in the previous games of the series with both 1st person and 3rd person views enabled.

Why order it trough Steam if you can get it completley DRM-Free from gog.com - likely get patches quicker too?

I'm sure there'd be a way to handle combat via 1st person. There was that sword and sworcery game a few years back where you could kick and do other cool stuff (Heroes of Might and Magic, maybe?), all in 1st person. 3rd person is just a huge immersion killer. I want to BE the character, not his or her puppetmaster.

I'm sure SkyRim will show everyone how it's done when it comes out. Man, I cannot wait!
In the meantime, I'd love to play the Witcher 2, which looks superb, but I can't get past the 3rd person aspect. At least with a game like Mass Effect, a lot of the shooting approximates 1st person pretty closely, with over-the-shoulder camera for shooting. From what I've seen of The Witcher 2, the camera is quite far back. :-(

Please keep in mind that I can only speak for myself and that I have a rather powerful system.

Just to compare: Dragon Age 2 after 15 hrs had crashed a couple of times (other than that it also ran fine on my system), while TW2 runs without problems.
