They would need to make functional AI that can hit a target 20 meters in front of them, a proper mission editor UI, vehicle AI that can stay on their waypoints on the roads without diverting and getting stuck on fences, weapon animations (no animations for bolt actions would be lame, immersion killing, and awkward) and a decent squad control interface at minimum for me to buy it.

Sadly, I think this will just be the case as with ArmA 2 and OA... just a tiny bit of improvements (that should have been released for free as bug fixes in ArmA 1, such as reloading while walking) but largely the same dysfunctional game.

It is a shame to.

I think you have this game confused with Codemasters Dragon Rising and Red River. biggrin
Not sure what you mean by dysfunctional game either.

I am looking forward to this as I loved the Libmod for OFP back in the day.
They are licencing the engine so maybe they have access to some features that are present in VBS. One can only hope.

Yeah, I haven't had any of those problems Flogger talks about. The vehicle waypoints are kinda goofy sometimes, but otherwise I absolutely disagree with him.

Maybe his FADE copy protection is setting in?

Sounds fantastic, looking forward to some glimpses of the map! Also there will hopefully be a fair amount of lend lease gear represented so all those who can't handle the idea of fighting red can at least have some sort of security blanket to hang on to wink

Cheers

It's amazing how negative some people can be. This looks awesome and it sounds like they have some great ideas up their sleeves. I will buy it as soon as I can get my hands on it.

My only question is about bolt action weapons. Compared to the arena style ww2 fps games I've played (DoD/RO/MoH etc), the bolt action rifles I've tried in ArmA mods have always felt a bit lame. Maybe things have improved, if not I guess I'll just have to grab an MP40. smile

Cheers

What he said! ^

How can you say why buy it when modders can do it. Most of us have OA, brit forces etc. We brought those and modders can do it. TBH modders can do most thing sto most half open games so why buy anything other than unreal tournament, afterall at one point I have over 30+ seperate games from flight sim to ww2 sim to standard arcade fps running of that one £25 game box. sigh

The people on the BI forums don't think it is FADE. I can't be bothered to reinstall the game as Amazon's downloader is a PITA to use (I wish it was more like Steam). I burned the files onto four DVDs though... but then installing ACE again would also be a PITA.

Another thing this game needs to do is run decent in forests. I don't play the "European map" in ArmA 2 due to extremely low frame rates. I only stick to areas in Takistan with no trees.

They should have went with a theater set in a desert IMO. That way more people would be able to run the game.

We worked a lot to optimize trees and bushes

We have it and a lot more features. Some of them you can see on that screens - destroyable tanks, cars, static weapons.

Definitely on my buy-list, Darkest Hour is dead in the water these days.

Have the armor and cannon values been extensively/realistically modelled though? As in armor type, thickness and angles vs AP effects etc?

Release day purchase for me. I'd say I'm looking forward to flying some of those planes, but I'm looking forward to all of it.
