I went in for the sunrise photo session, but the bad weather and limited access to the aircraft made it a fairly fruitless outing. That got started at 5:00am, and I was pretty wiped out, and with the weather not looking so hot, I decided to leave early. Looking at WalterNowi's shots in another thread, it looks like maybe the weather cleared up a bit later, and I probably should have stayed, but that's life, I suppose.

Here's a few that I got for the first, I don't know, maybe third of the show:

#1 - FW-190, pre-dawn

#2 - A P-51 Mustang with sun streaming through the morning clouds

#3 - A lineup of P-51s and P-63 with the sun coming through the clouds

#4 - Another sun-though-the-clouds shot, this time with an F-15E

#5 - A parked F7F Tigercat

#6 - A taxiing F-4U Corsair

#7 - Silver Wings Wing Walking

#8 - More Silver Wings Wing Walking

#9 - A F3F and J2F Duck in flight

#10 - The Duck by itself

Nice Pictures Ken.
I was there today and ended up getting soaking wet. I had an umbrella but it wasn't big enough to keep me dry. I had to leave early or end up being sick for a week.

Thanks Wheels. I thought about going back today to see if I could get some shots I missed, but heard about the weather and figured it wasn't worth the trip from San Diego. Too bad it was raining so hard on you!

Oh, and because I know this site is filled with a bunch of horndogs, I took a few photos of two models that other photographers had brought out for a shoot. I didn't want to cut in on their shooting, so I just took a few from a distance, just to post here. I don't know why I'm even typing, because I'm sure everyone skipped over this and just went down to look at the pictures and I could just be typing blah blah blah blah.... smile

I wouldn't have risked it If I had been coming all the way from San Diego either.
Getting there early today and not checking the weather forcast before I left was my mistake. I was setup next to the fenceline by 8:10 and it had just started to rain. I thought it would pass through quickly like yesterday but it didn't. If I had got there around 10:30 it probably would have been OK because most of the rain had moved on by then. When I left at 11:00 there was still a ton of open area right next to the fence but I knew if I stayed I was going to pay for it dearly.

It was a blowing rain and you can see the raindrops in some of my pics. At first I thought I had got the lens wet and that was what I was seeing but the pictures after those don't have the rain streaks in them.

I am liking that second set a lot too. smile

It looks like the rear seater in the A-4 is taking pictures of the SBD. That's a darn cool shot.

The blonde is cute Ken but I think she might need to find a restaurant and partake of some of its menu items. biggrin

Hopefully the rain shows up when I upload the picture. The streaks in front of the wings is the rain.

Wow, looks like it's really coming down - I can definitely see the streaks. And yes, she was thin, and looked even thinner in person. I guess what they say is true - the camera adds 10lbs.

Wow, yeah, you can really see the rain in front of that P-40. Glad I didn't make the drive up from San Diego!

Terrific shots. Those P-38s look beautiful. By the way, that's a PB4Y2 patrol bomber, used by the U.S. Navy during the second world war. Kind of a single tailed B-24. Appears to be very civilianized. In combat they would have had a turret in the nose , tail and upper section of the fuselage like the B24Js.

I think this PB4Y2 has been converted into a fire bomber.

I thought that too when I read Pooch's post but I wasn't sure so I didn't post it.

Edit
All PB4Y's were retired from firefighting in 2002 or 2003 after an accident with one in 2002.

Here are some more pictures of #121. (You will have to scroll down to see them.)

I went to Chino and Yanks Museums yesterday. Also went to the Hemet-Ryan airshow today and saw some of the same planes today although only the Corsair and Lightning flew. :-)

Sounds like you had some fun. I still have to go to Yanks and check it out.

I forgot about Hemet-Ryan until it was too late to go. frown
