Ya' know, that was exactly the first thing I thought when I saw the original WIP pics of the career mode! Especially this pic:



...look at the bottom portion - it reads: "Online players who play for this squadron".

Would be fantastic for sure if it was a multiplayer co-op career mode!!!

( but actually, I suspect it just looks over the leaderboard, and shows pilots who've also played in this squadron at some point in their career.)

How cool it would be to have this transparently - for example if you tick a checkbox before normal career mission starts -> "allow interaction with other online players" , to actually meet somebody else, playing the career in the same time/place

There is no COOP Career mode.

One guess gone but a billion other possibilities. Also remember that just because you have all the planes does not mean we cant gift you a new one when it comes out. So lets get to guessing!

When drop in multiplayer career missions were being discussed a few months ago Han seemed to suggest that it was something always intended for ROF but was on the back burner currently.

I would like to see Achievements like there are on Steam.

I would love that but it would have to have the ability for the leader (whoever initiated the mission) to reward or penalise pilots. That would perhaps eliminate the likelihood of your wingman going off and doing his own thing instead of watching your back. Perhaps a constant online ranking system might be an idea to encourage pilots to do what they are supposed to as efficiently as possible and a penalty system such as lowering of rank if you don't follow orders.

I think it would be fun, potentially, but there's the obvious downside of knobs being able to spoil your nice career...

Just as with online play there'd be the potential for team killing and other anoying stuff.

Mmm, that is really what this sim needs to get multi player to boom... As it is now, who want to put up a server that runs at 40-70% CPU with no players in the game. My Windows 2008R2 server that is located in a rather poorly ventilated wardrobe was making it into a sauna To bad, I would have liked to use my 100Mbit fibre connection to put up a server running all the time otherwise.
