After a long wait, I finally got around to finish the BRFS gimbal I was building.

This is going to be installed in the #1 109F/X cockpit that I built for the series one construction manual.
I'd made a drilling position mistake when I was building the frame and instead of performing major surgery on the box or building another one, I installed one of my quick & dirty hall effect input assemblies to get the job done (works great!)
Here's a pic of the newly installed axis centering system:
If you follow the instructions on how the springs are installed, you'll get excellent centering the first time. Mike did a great job on writing up this project!
here's a close up of what I did for the pitch axis:
I installed a Du-Bro ball link to the pitch axis cam, slightly offset from the center point and connected it to the hall effect sensor via a pushrod. Works out great!
Here's a pic of what the gimbal looks like from the outside:
The box is designed to be floor mounted, although if you've got the room below your cockpit, you can install it under the floor as well.
The springs that Mike specifies in the plans results in a great centering force that I've been told has an accurate feel as if it was under moderate flight loads.
