Nimwit question here but is the boost option exactly what I think it is? smile Like a nitro boost or something?

Yep. Turbine spins faster which increases the car horsepower at the cost of more fuel. Remember 1 is maximum boost. 7 is minimum boost.

Sounds cool. I was just doing some Google research on it and I was wondering if there will be any restriction on boost usage from reading this ...

Quote:
The number of pushes and their duration is decided before each race. At the Glen on Sunday, drivers will have 12 opportunities to push the button, and they will each last 22 seconds. There’s a 10-second recharge time between uses, so drivers can’t just hold the button down.

Nope. Just 1 through 7 settings. But check the fuel use on 1 vs 7. Be sure and look over Joe's tech comments linked in the first post and what Papa_K posted a little while ago.

I don't know about the fuel use, but the difference between full boost (1) and minimum boost (7) is about 5 seconds a lap. I'm doing mid-41's at full boost, mid 46's at minimum. biggrin

The boost mapping is a throwback to the old days of the series where the drivers had the ability to adjust the amount of boost from the cockpit. These days it really is like a "turbo boost" button but it's limited to X number of times per race.

Since rFactor can only do the mapping that's what we get - but we can only do it in the setup screen, we can't adjust it on the fly in the race.

Chad you may be quite correct, I haven't tried it. But there are unassigned setting actions for:

Increment Boost
Decrement Boost
Temporary Boost

So they may be able to be assigned.

Thanks for the boost info guys. I've been wondering if I'd ever get a chance to use the boost options in the rFactor controls menu.

I'm on the server now so I'll map those and check it out.

After practice tonight, I'm going to go on record and say that this has the potential to be the most interesting race we run all year. biggrin

Just an FYI for everyone...be careful when leaving your pitbox. Make sure that you don't spin the tires so much that the speedo goes over the pit road speed limit.

I didn't think that was possible, but earlier tonight when I left my stall, I got into it hard with the limiter on and it cost me 100 credits.... banghead

Anyone seen templates for the driver and the helmet for this mod? Looked through the 30+ pages of comments on rFactor Central, but couldn't find any.
