I really like Il-2 1946, and I've been thinking of getting Rise of Flight as well. It looks like a lot of fun!

I'm wondering if Rise of Flight might be too much for my computer to handle. Right now, I can run Il-2 1946 pretty well, so long as I don't have my graphics turned up too high and there isn't too much going on at once (flak, etc.).

I don't know as much as I should about computers, but here are my specs:

Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980
Graphics: Intel GMA 4500 MHD Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0
Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 processor 2.2 GHz
4 GB DDR2 RAM

Thanks for your help!

DOWNLOAD THE DEMO from the Official site.

...then head over to HERE and set up an account.

(use the first download link for latest version - not the download link from account page - that links to old 1.017 version )

And check how it works on your machine! You're kinda' on the edge, but some folks have had great results on lower end machines.

Worth a shot.

I agree with Brian. Try the demo its the only way to know for sure. Im not too familiar with your laptops video card. That might be your weakest point.

An integrated Intel laptop chip is pretty much the worst modern GPU you can get. They are designed with power consumption in mind, not 3D rendering. Definitely still download the demo and give it a shoit if nothing else, but (as I'm sure you realise) you shouldn't expect much if anything.

Still, I really hope it does work for you, it's a fantastic piece of software.

Also, remember that the demo IS the full sim, it's only limited by time and aircraft permissions. If you elect to go with the retail version, don't uninstall the demo, just enter the retail license key at the ROF site at the profile>license link. Fire up the sim, log in online with your chosen email and password, it'll synch with the ROF server which holds all your details and you'll have the full sim ready to go.

Hope it works out for you!

PS- if you liked IL2 1946, ROF will blow you away...the planes in IL2 feel like crude tinkertoys by comparison. Definitely hope it works out biggrin

Hi LennysCopilot,

Dont waste more time, donwload the demo, try all kind of settings and see if the girl smiles to you biggrin
I have a average/low machine and runs very well here
you have 14 days to test all the possible (game and video card) settings and you surely will not regret, this is the best flight sim nowadays.
btw the demo option it's a great idea to deal with this kind of doubts, and to get a real impression about the sim, and at the end you are hooked wink
Thanks for this opportunity 777Studios thumbsup

Good Luck LC

Cheers

You may find that you can run some missions smoothly while others make the game run in "slow motion", regardless of graphics quality setting. If that is the case, it is because your processor can't handle that many rendered objects, and turning down the game options won't help. Quick dogfights should not be a problem, but campaign missions could.

Yeah but download the demo from the alternative mirror site not the RoF site as I tried about three times to download the demo on RoF site and gave up due to it being too slow - until I found the alternative mirror site which is much much faster. I probably would have bought the game ages ago if I had actually been able to try the demo.
