The N.11 is a darn fine plane. One of my favorites in the campaign. I always enjoyed early war more than late war--hopefully we'll get more of these planes in the future. There's just something fun about wrestling with an ancient crate trying to beat the most life out of it.

It always brings a smile to my face when I see a post like this. Someone just wonders whether their ageing PC will run sim X, doesn't so they say 'well never mind'.

Couple of days later they are asking advice on a new PC to run sim X as they really want to play it biggrin

We are, as I think we all really know, big kids and the thoughts of wanting to play simx, buy exotic hardware Y become too much and we have to give in.

You're right about the "big kid" bit, MaceUK.

I just bought the Sopwith Pup last night. My first plane. Can't wait to try it out! Need to find some pilot's notes, though.

The Pup is my favourite and I am currently in a campaign flying one.

What will more RAM do in a system that already has 4Gb? Probably not much, Lenny....and for those that are suggesting you shave off a few bits from your current component list to afford a better graphics card: If he "shaves off" any more than he already has, he won't have much IMO.

Lenny, you're already using some of the best "bang for buck" equipment available out there. But if you can afford a BIT better graphics card than a GTX 550Ti, then by all means GET IT. Also, keep this in mind:

The average GTX 550Ti retails for between $130 and $150 USD...it's entirely possible to get something a generation older and more powerful while staying within that price range. For example, right now there's a PNY GTX 460 (1GB) at Newegg.com which is more powerful than the GTX 550Ti for the same price and will work well on your intended system.

The only thing that you should keep in mind is, that the GTX 460 comes in two "flavors" and will consume about 60 more watts than the GTX 550Ti. First, get the 1gb version and second, your 650 watt PSU will be more then enough for either card.

Best wishes.

Get the most powerful Graphics Processing Unit you can afford. THAT will make the most difference-bar none.

If you have a "reasonably" fast processor, the GPU will make the biggest performance increase...

Tom's Hardware provides well respected reviews and data, and is a good place to start comparing your choices. He even makes it easier by breaking them down into price ranges. Try this LINK HERE.
