I have never once chosen to slow down time while I am flying. I do, however, sometimes use the option while watching recordings, and quite often on my old computer the sim forced me into half-time because it couldn't handle running the sim at full speed with all of the A.I. flying.
It does make gunnery easier. But in addition to realism concerns, it makes you worse of a flier. When time goes back to normal (in my case, when I'd shot down enough A.I. that the program was able to run at full speed again), suddenly everything is much more difficult.

Of course this does not apply to people who hack online to get an advantage, that is obviously wrong. There are no players who hack online in Rise of Flight. Please don't spread false rumors.

That is indeed a very nasty rumour to spread. It has the potential to undermine confidence in the sim, the devs, and the community which means people on the fence about buying it just might not. If you have evidence, then I suggest you PM Jason at 777 to get it straightened out immediately.

However, I only really use 1/2 time when my machine can't run RoF at normal speeds (RoF automatically slows down time, but I find it is easier to select 1/2 - since it keeps time from gradually speeding up without warning)
Glad to hear I am not the only one Time for a pc upgrade!
Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?

I don't use the 1/2 time option and didn't even realise there was one until now lmao. I don't use time compression either, although I've flown a few times where I was tempted. The only sim I've used time compression in is Silent Hunter series...I'm not a true naval sim grognard
