I know it's probably old stuff to many of you, but I am still in the honeymoon phase and simply cannot get enough of RoF. It's just so beautiful...

I am completely in love with the Albatross. What a plane...

The Pfalz is a great one too :

Cheers

Me too and I dare to say I want a couple of variants more in RoF!
Great shots VonBarb thumbsup

PS you can use the HideHud option when taking screenshots and get rid of the 'pause' symbol on the top right

I'm sorry. I've never been a fan of WWI aircraft, but I'm curious as to what's the deal with RoF. Gorgeous scenery? Aircraft? Handling? Close-quarters air-to-air combat?

Is there a demo?

So, VB, you're saying that an E6600 dual-core, 4gb of RAM and a GeForce 8800GTS 640mb video card could run this? I've been holding off on buying RoF for the same reason as you.

I catch myself getting goosebumps when I'm chasing an enemy and suddenly the wings of my foe reflects the sun as we fly over a pitoresque small french village early in the morning sunrise... Almost a pity I have to shoot him down. ;-)

A flightsim that looks this good and runs this well, and is so realistic, is a true work of art!

Glad you like the shots gents, I'm still getting to know the camera system in this sim. I should probably leave the Fraps key alone and focus more on my gunnery, but I just can't help myself biggrin

Probably not with everything maxed out or too many planes in the air at once, but it should definitely be enough to run it at average settings with good FPS. I'm not sure what the difference in performance would be using a dual core instead of a quad though. Your system matches the min requirements for a XP/Vista system (as per the back of the box) so I'd say gove it a try !

All I'm cettain of is I was expecting an engine like RoF's to be far more demanding than it has been so far in my experience.

Cheers

I bought ROF several months ago, for the princely sum of Ł9.99. Will not run on my old 3870 card, but that's not ROF's issue, just me being tight. I need a new card, but having a really small case means I'm limited, card can only be 9" long. Still, ROF looks like good ol' fashioned fun.

I've always said, ROF is the first sim where it's almost as fun to watch as it is to fly. ahoy

Cool beans. I'm gonna give it a try. Best looking flight sim out there at the moment, IMO. It just looks "right" in an EAW sort of way.

Semmern,

Just be forwarned, if you use a dual-core cpu and Win7 it will not run appropriately. I ran it on an E6600 on Windows XP for a few months and it ran just great, however upgraded to Win 7 and it was a slideshow. It is a known issue with dual core cpu's. I purchased a used Q6600 (quad core), dropped it in and it ran fine again. I guess it has to do with hyperthreading or now Win 7 handles multiple threads.

***Apparently it will work with 32 bit Win 7, just not 64 bit*** Thanks for the correction.

NOTE: It will work fine on a 32 Bit Win7. I was running it from beta stage on 32 BIT WIN7, 2.4GHZ Dual Core, 2 GB RAM and 8800GT. Ran great on default medium settings, Post Effects OFF.

So, consensus is that it will run fine in a dual core with 32 bit Win 7???

I will correct my statement that it did not work for me on 64-bit Windows 7. I can't confirm it will work on 32-bit. Will have to rely on Mohawk for that determination as I have not tested it.
