Hi all,

Can you help me solve a mystery. I am using Traffic X to populate airports with traffic. About three months ago I downloaded a number of Scenery upgrades for FSX to improve the appearance of US military airports. With the additional parking and also having purchased the addon military aircraft for Traffic X I decided to add more military traffic to my US military airports. I have been adding military traffic for Seymour Johnson AFB. While flying in and out of the base I have noticed a de Havilland Beaver with its floats sitting on the runway and preventing aircraft from departing and landing. I have searched the aircraft traffic in Traffic X and have decompiled the other traffic blg files in the World Scenery but have not found this mystery de Havilland Beaver disrupting the flights in and out of Seymour Johnson AFB.

Are there other places to look to find aircraft traffic? This mystery aircraft is driving me nuts. If I had anti-aircraft or SAMs on the airbase I would shoot it down. ar15

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

May be worth trying this.

Go to Programs/Just Flight/TrafficX/Control panel.

Click Traffic Generator and untick the Beaver. That may delete it from running hopefully.

NineLives,

Your suggestion looked promising so I opened Traffic Control Centre, to uncheck the De Havilland Beaver but the only De Havilland I found was the Dash 8 and the Dash 8 100. The Beaver was not listed.

Another thing that is very strange is this, even after setting General Aircraft Traffic to zero in FSX the De Havilland Beaver continues to fly and land at Seymour Johnson AFB and then sits on the runway for twenty minutes or more. I also discovered that this aircraft is sitting on the tarmac in many of my US military airbases. At Nellis AFB for example, there are 8 sitting in a group, next to a group of F-16s. I am very puzzled that this default FSX airplane is showing up at US military airbases, because FSX doesn't have traffic to military airbases.

Anyone have any other ideas for tracking down this mystery.

Hi all,

I found a temporary fix, by simply removing the De Havilland Beaver out of FSX. The problem with that however is I am not able to fly the airplane. It was a nice float-plane to fly in the Rocky Mountains or for sightseeing around islands because you could land at an airport or on water.

I will continue my search for the mysterious aircraft traffic file that is causing the De Havilland to appear at US military airbases.

Very odd! I wonder if re-naming the plane would work? It should still appear in your list but not be recognised by the file that is trying to load it as a default plane.

I have had this aircraft appear, but not blocking anything.

I was going to suggest deleting the AI model - but don't actually see one - just sound.

Here's what I do to get rid of excess default aircraft, though - I rename the aircraft.cfg file to a .txt file and voila - doesn't appear.

When I want ot use it, I simply rename the file back.

As this is AI I don't know how well that will work - but you could always rename the aircraft folder, too.

Hi all,

Just a quick update regarding the mysterious aircraft traffic file. I have continued to search for the location of the De Havilland Beaver traffic in all of the .blg files, but still can not find it. If the Beaver was landing with its wheels down it would not be a problem, but it lands on its floats and because it is on a hard surface it just sits on the runway for as long as it takes to disappear. And while it sits there it disrupts all departing and landing military traffic.

What has me very puzzled is that it should not be landing at US military bases in the first place, because FSX does not have any default traffic to US military bases.

Thanks for your suggestions

Well I am a big beliver Occam's razor, the principle is often inaccurately summarized as "the simplest explanation is most likely the correct one." However - it works here. You basically must have a .bgl that places the Beaver on that runway. I would start fom the MIAW files or whatever military package you are using.

I upgraded from Traffic X to UT2 (that doesn't use BGL files) - boy what a difference!
