Definitely in the wrong forum, it is much more FPS/tactical than RTS, although it is possible to command reasonably large bodies of troops. There is a large real time (accelerated) strategic map, although for the this, one controls only one's party, and possibly a few cows.
I tried the game out some time ago and, while I sensed that I should like it, I sucked somethin' fierce, and as a consequence, I shelved it. Then, after a rather cheerily quarrelsome thread with someone or other on the CH forum about the film Kingdom of Heaven, I got the urge to give it a whirl again. This time, I tried a couple of mods; the Hundred Years War mod, and the Anno Domini 1257 mod. The former is about the well-known war of the same name, the latter takes place across Europe, North Africa, Asia Minor, and into the Levant in 1257. Well, I finally figured out how to do the combat, and I can say that both of these mods offer great role playing experiences. In the former, I am little more than an obscure bandit with vaguely English sympathies, not that they care what I do. In the latter, I am a Cypriot knight with huuuuuge...tracts of land and a reputation for appalling violence in the name of the god du jour, and mine enemies (may God confound them) love me rather more than mine dearest brothers (Blessings be upon them). I need to marry some hot chick there, but they all reject me, even though I know a few epic poems, the stuck up cows.
Highly recommended, especially with good, historical mods.
