Two sets of Airbase Attack missions (old Jane's ATF concept), one set early in the morning and one late evening.

Spawn a bomber or fighter at home base to destroy the 3 enemy hangars, defend base or escort bombers.

Download Airbase Attack Mission Pack

Airbase Attack Dieppe
  • Red side spawn at Dieppe (B4)
  • Blue side spawn at Brombos (H1)

Airbase Attack Harwell
  • Red side spawn at Harwell (B3)
  • Blue side spawn at White Waltham (F2)

AI will spawn for CAP and bombing missions so mission should be playable solo, coop or TvT.

Host passworded server to play solo or go public with an open server.

Feel free to edit/crush/jump/delete/copypaste any file in pack.

MAKING SCRIPTS IN THE FMB AND ORGANISING FOLDERS

Ok this one is really basic smile

First off navigate to your il2 missions folder. When you open it you will see Multi and Single folders.Next to these folder make an Axis and Allies folder. You can keep it basic and stop there,or go further, open up your Axis folder and create subfolders in there called Flak,Searchlights,Airfield etc. That is the place where we are going to put the scripts that you make in the FMB.Better to be organised otherwise you will have a hundred scripts you scroll through everytime you want to place something.

You can see how i have set it out below,i already have four scripts sitting in my flak folder for four different flak positions.

Now in the FMB to actually make one it is very simple.

I am making a whole bunch of invasion barges to fill some of the harbours and estuarys. So after i lay a block of barges i simply ALT+LEFTCLICK and draw a box with your mouse around the objects you want, this highlights the selected items and then right click brings up the paste/copy.Select copy.

Next you need to save it and this is where your premade folders come in handy.I made one called invasion barges in my Axis folder as you can see,so thats where i save it.

Now everytime i want invasion barges i just right click, paste, select my barges and ping , instabarges. The only bummer i have found with things set out in a tight group like the barges is if i rotate them to suit different angled piers or wharves they all move seperately and not as a block so i would have to make Barges , Barges15degree,Barges20degree etc and see which one applys to the area i am working in .Still quicker than making the barges seperately everytime.

Flak emplacements and little airfield setups are not as bad as they are more widely dispersed and can be rotated and still look right.

Another thing i stuffed around with last night was the Z offset in the actors tab, i thought (since i was working with a Wotan radar emplacement) that it would have moved the aerial at different angles to the base, but no..

So that was pretty cool, it controls the elevation, and i went back to my wharves and made a quick crane setup. Two halves of a pier joined, set crane to 10 in the offset.

Once we get more cargo type ships we can stack the decks with tanks, cargo etc and plenty of other possibilities.Would not work with static aircraft though.

SEARCHLIGHTS

There is one at airwarfare but for non users of the FMB or newbies to it , it is a bit non user friendly smile So here is mine .

Pic may be a bit dark , maybe i should have done them in the daylight, doh.Lets see.

Ok so first place three of the Gennies (british or German generator depending on if you are in the Ruhr or London wink ) These are the power source for the Light and any other objects that need to be powered.Seperate them a bit as if they take a hit then you will lose that power source.Next in the middle of these place an AI,that is the name of it in the obvjects list. Go to the ai actor tab of the AI and set radius , i set 1000, you will see a ring appear on the map corresponding to that radius.Anything that needs power (our searchlights) need to be placed in that ring to work. While still in the actor tab change the SCRIPT to powerOn.cpp.This must turn the Gennies on.

Now lastly reselect the gennies one byu one and click the SET button , this will pop up a target line on the map radiating from the gennie, drag that line to the AI and click.Do for all three.Thats it your done.

You should be able to place a few searchlights in that radius , i placed 6 and they all worked , dont know what the max number is though.

Ok so first pic shows the layout ..

This shows the actor tab for the AI

And then a working light

As a side note : You wouldn't believe it but the lights are buggy biggrin They seem to be worked by a team of speed freaks as they move back and forth like a flashlight tied to a dogs tail running down the road. They also appear and disappear depending on the angle you are looking at them, and lastly they dont appear to be able to penetrate much past 1500 metres.I dropped the He111s to 1400 so they could be actually 'hit' by the light.

CHANGING SINGLE MISSION PICS

Something simple and easy to customise your single missions with an ingame screeny you grab yourself or something a bit more historical , or who knows a hot pic of your missus for inspiration to make it home.

Firts things first , your pic you are going to use must be an 800x600 jpg.You can use something as basic as mspaint to resize your picss or just crop them.I use photoscape for basic stuff (free download) as it has a heap of filters for aging, sepia,b and w , antique etc and will resize as well.

Your default Clod install should be here..

C:\Users\your name\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

So once you have that open click on Missions , i have two and have to open the second one to get to the single mission files as seen below.

The next folder in is this one..

This contains all of the single mission files that shipped with the game plus the ones you make in the FMB , the highlighted one is the one i made in the FMB that i need to open to insert the text to direct it to the picture i want to use..

Once i open the file i see this..

The highlighted lines under <slide> are the ones you need to change.Simply name them exactly what the name of your pic file is , in my case Flite.jpg, you can also change the briefing text here if you have not already done so in the FMB.

Save the mission file and close but stay in that folder as this is also where you put your picture. As seen below.

Simply drag and drop it,or copy and paste.

Now next time when you go to single missions and slect the mission you made you should see your picture.

Hopefully that all made sense smile

Yes runway lights work but you have to add gennie and ai power. They do stay on even when a searchlight is hit and goes off. I cannot get the lighthouse to work as yet.

Ajay we need your great stuff, get it fixed man. Delete all your configs in both main game folder and user/yourname/Documents/IC SoftClub/IL 2 sturmovik cliffs of dover ,,,,,,,,, then set steam cloud to on and have it verify files and let it download all new configs.

You will lose all settings but you might try this to start with all new configs. There is something wrong as it works fine for me and many others.

Ok bad thing about runway lights they are visible through solid objects. So you can see them through your wings and other solid objects.

I am creating a mission but to have a surprise for the player I put to ennemy planes into the mission but I do want the players to not know, is it possible? And how?

This two BF109 should be not there. In the mission Yes, in this screen no!
Can I use a delayed take off?
Or maybe a spawn? I did not find how!

Thanks for posting this Raggz! It's actually a lot of fun to fly. Never having tried the included campaigns all I've been doing is flying QMB and some single ones (I've even created a couple myself now!!! jawdrop ) but not the campaign. Trying this out has been a pleasant surprise. Not having a top rig I use the lower setting selection and with everything maxed out it is quite playable. Thanks again. S!

Here's 4 training missions that start you on the ground so you can focus on engine management, takeoffs and safely delivering your plane to a nearby airfield with no enemy. Be sure to turn your mirror off for better FPS on takeoffs.

1-Hurricane I
2-Spitfire I
3-Bf 109E
4-Stuka (with practice ordinance drop)

38 single player missions here, but more will be added weekly...

http://www.freewebs.com/heinkill/cliffsofdovermissions.htm

All include self installers and uninstallers for easy, uhm, installing and uninstalling! Just download the Mission Megapack for ALL missions.

Megapack currently includes - historical missions (see below for examples), offline tournament missions (LW and RAF), Stuka mission pack, Operation Sealion Mission Pack.

Here are some examples:

Aces Mission 1 – Douglas Bader – Big Wing
Few men become legends in their lifetime. Bader lost both legs in an accident in 1931 but fitted with aluminium replacements he returned to the air and by 1940 was squadron leader with 242 Squadron flying Hurricanes. He was the leading proponent of the Big Wing theory that massed attacks by RAF fighters were needed to stop Luftwaffe raids getting through.
Bader led a Big Wing into action for the first time on September 7, 1940, against a large German formation heading for London. Having been scrambled late, the wing was underneath the bombers and their fighter escorts when they intercepted them north of the Thames. All 242 and 310 Squadrons could do was attack as best they could while 19 Squadron's Spitfires tried to hold off the attacking Me-109s.
Bader himself got a cockpit full of bullets and the right aileron shot off his Hurricane. This is your chance to test the Big Wing theory for yourself.

Mission 2 – Alan Deere – Deere over Dunkirk
A reprise of a favorite mission from the Deere IA mission pack. Alan Deere was one of the most famous pilots of the Battle of Britain, serving with 54 Squadron and going on to the rank of Air Commodore before retiring in 1967.
On May 23 1940 Deere recorded the first ever victories over Bf109s by a Spitfire, when he shotdown two Bf109s in fighting near Dunkirk. Can you help the troops on the beach at Dunkirk by driving off the marauding 109s?

Mission 3 – Howard Mayers – Scramble! 110s!

Howard Clive Mayers was one of Australia's lesser known Battle of Britain aces. During the battle he won a DFC and was credited with 8 kills. He went on to score a total of 12 kills, fighting mostly over Africa before being lost in action at Quattara Depression on 8 July 1942.
Early on 13 August 1940 with 601 Sq Mayers claimed a Bf110 damaged. After a scramble later the same day, he destroyed another Bf110 and was then shot down himself. Mayers baled out, was fired on by a Bf110 but landed safely in the sea off Portland. He was picked up by an MTB and treated for shrapnel wounds at Portland Hospital. His Hurricane, P2690, crashed into the Channel off Weymouth.

Mission 4 – Sailor Malan – Malan vs Molders

South African ace Adolph 'Sailor' Malan is at the center of one of the most hotly disputed encounters of the Battle of Britain, with many claiming it was he who brought down Luftwaffe ace Werner Molders on 28 July 1940.
74 Squadron was in action between Manston and Hawkinge and Malan had just downed one Bf109 from JG51 when he saw Molders on his six. He turned toward him and battle was joined. Molders aircraft was badly damaged and though he nursed it home to Wissant he was so badly wounded he took no part in the conflict for the next month.
Malan himself made no claim that it was he who damaged Molders, and other sources say it was a Hurricane of 41 Squadron. You can fly as either!

Mission 5 – Josef Frantisek – Frantisek vs Wiggers

Czech ace Josef Frantisek achieved in just 27 days the title of highest scoring RAF pilot of the Battle of Britain, with 17 confirmed victories in Sept and Oct of 1940. A lone wolf, his commanding officers found him impossible to control, but loathe to lose his abilities in the air, he was made a 'guest of 303 squadron' so that he could continue to fly and fight during the Battle. His short career ended on October 8 in an unexplained accident following an uneventful patrol.
September 11, 1940, was a day of glory for the largely Polish 303 Squadron. Fifteen minutes after being scrambled, the squadron in full formation intercepted a German raid. Thanks to a determined attack, the pilots scattered the German formation but ran foul of the determined escort fighters of JG51. One Bf 109, shot down by Sgt. Frantisek, was piloted by Hans Wiggers, an ace with 13 victories to his credit.

Mission 6 – Arty Holmes – Ramming Speed!

Though not strictly an Ace, Ray 'Arty' Holmes warrants inclusion for one of the most memorable victories of the Battle. Holmes entered the history books when he attacked a formation of
Do17s over London on Sept 15. In a classic case of the 'red mist of battle' taking over, Holmes chose to ram one of the Dorners with his Hurricane and at a closing speed of 400 mph he cut through its tail section like butter.
Unfortunately he also totalled his own machine.
The attack was immortalised on film by a camera-crew, who filmed the Dornier crashing into the forecort of Victoria Station, while Holmes floated down to the streets below, close to where his Hurricane cratered the crossroads at Buckingham Palace and Pimlico roads!
Your challenge (fly as Red2, Holmes famous TM-B Hurri) in this mission is to repeat Holmes attack and bring down a Dornier without firing your guns! Remember to set air-air collisions=on in your options. Will you live to drink a pint with the fire brigade afterwards, as Holmes did?

Mission 7 – Ernest McNab – Fog of War

Canadian Ernie “Pee Wee” McNab scored the first Canadian air victory of World War 2 while attached to 1 Sq RAF. When 1 Sq (Canadian) was officially formed in June 1940, McNab took the reins. The squadron first entered the fray on August 24 1940.
1C Squadron scrambled 12 fighters, led by McNab, to patrol at 10,000 feet. Having earlier observed a combat in progress, they spotted three Ju88s approaching below. McNab led the attack.
After the engagement the jubilant Canadians claimed to have destroyed one Junkers 88 and “probably destroyed” a second. Canadian newspapers quickly trumpeted the success:
London, Aug. 25 (CP Cable reporter Harold Fair) Roaring into action together as a unit for the first time the first Royal Canadian Air Force fighter squadron to reach England proved itself Saturday by downing two German bombers.
A brief Air Ministry news service bulletin said: "The first Royal Canadian fighter squadron to reach England went into action yesterday for the first time. Flying their Canadian-built Hurricanes, the pilots yesterday afternoon shot down two Dornier bombers."
No further details were given out for the moment.
There was just one problem...

Mission 8 – Carl Davis – Letter to Mrs Davis

The RAF in 1940 was bolstered by pilots from at least 14 other nations, among them several Americans. One of these was US Ace Carl Raymond Davis, DFC, a US RAF volunteer, who died 6 September 1940 with 9 victories.
The British Battle of Britain monument lists 9 US airmen who served in the RAF, either as US citizens, or claiming to be Canadian. Davis received his DFC after shooting down two Ju88s, a Bf109 and a Stuka in the space of three days.
A witness to his death wrote a moving letter to his wife, “Dear Mrs Davis, I hope you will not mind receiving this letter from a stranger, one who saw the air battle in which your husband gave his life on Friday morning last...”

Mission 9 – Adolph Galland – Galland vs Allen

Adolph Galland is possibly the most famous of the Luftwaffe Aces, finishing the war with 104 victories from 705 sorties. An entire mission package could be built around just this one flyer. This mission recreates one of the many sorties where Ace clashed with Ace and only one flyer survived.
On 24 July 1940, Galland led III./JG 26 over the north coast of the Thames Estuary. Here they engaged Spitfires and Galland was able to shoot one down to the north of Margate.
He had shot down the British ace P/O “Johnny” Allen of 56 Sqn, who at the time had 7 confirmed and 5

Mission 10 – Erich Groth – Hammerhead

Groth, in his famous 'Sharkmouth' Zerstorer, was the top scoring Bf110 ace, with 12 BoB victories - no mean feat in a machine outclassed by both the Hurricane and Spitfire.
Groth used the 'Hammerhead' turn in the Bf110 to great effect - diving away then zooming up until at the top of his climb he would stall and kick the rudder to turn the pursuit into a head to head game of chicken, letting him bring his 4xMG17 and 2x20mm cannons to bear on his unsuspecting 'attacker'.
This mission recreates August 15 1940. A black day for Groth's ZG 76/II unit, which lost no fewer than 8 aircraft in one fighter sweep. Losses like these resulted eventually in the Bf110 requiring its own escorts, and it was eventually dropped from the air to air role altogether, except as a night fighter.

Mission 11 – Eduard Tratt – Erpro 210’s opening blow

When he died in 1944 Tratt was the leading Bf110 ace with 38 victories, 10 of them achieved during the Battle of Britain as part of the elite Erpro 210 experimental bombing unit.
In one of the opening blows of the Battle of Britain Erpro 210 attacked the British RDF system on August 12.
The attacks put Dunkirk, Pevensey, Dover and Rye stations off the air but were judged by the
Luftwaffe to be a failure as they were apparently back on air again later the same day. Len Deighton in 'Fighter' notes the attacks were more effective than Luftwaffe intelligence had judged though, with two of the stations effectively crippled having been put back on the air with false signals to fool the Germans.

Mission 12 - Helmut Wick – Big Day Out

Helmut Wick became the leading Luftwaffe Ace of the Battle of Britain, and stayed in the lead until his
death in November 1940. He emerged from the Battle of France with 12 kills, took over JG2/1 (7) in Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen', and finished the BoB with 42 kills. The mission represented in this pack technically falls outside the dates of the Battle, but is too impressive to ignore.
October 5 1940: In the aftermath of the Battle, Wick flew an afternoon patrol near Bournemouth andencountered Hurricanes from 607 Sq. He personally accounted for three. Returning to France to refuel and rearm, he patrolled the area of the Isle of Wight at sunset and ran into Spitfires of 238 Sq, downing two and bringing his total for the day to 5 RAF aircraft! The feat earned him oak leaves for his Knights Cross

Conquer the Region
(Update Revision 5)

There are a number of defence positions along the main roads that builds and controls the frontline.

Capture them all or reach 100 points doing so to Conquer the Region.

Scoring system give:
+3 destroying a platoon
+3 when a platoon captures a defence position
+1 bombing a defence position
+1 to +5 landing damaged plane
-10 for enemy destroying each factory

Better planes will be available as score increase (full inventory at 50 points)

Destroy the Light Tank in the center of a defence position to capture it, this will move the frontline and might give you a new airbase.

You may buy extra assets from personal credits earned by:
+3 helping/capturing enemy defence positions (1000m)
+1 helping/inflicting damage on enemy aircraft (500m not notified)
+3 helping/destroying enemy aircraft (500m)
+10 helping/destroying enemy factory (1000m)
+1 to +5 landing your damaged aircraft.

Ground units will spawn at each "frontline" defence position and will head for the closest enemy defence position to capture it, support them or get there before them bombing the Light Tank.

Identify the enemy factories by the three (3) chimneys. British in A1 and B3 or the German in I7 and I1

(Example briefing from OdenCTR - Le Havre)

Download

4 sets, fight over Le Havre, Arras, Kent or Steppe.

Updated for Revision 5 now including ingame mission menu options to add assets:

(buy for base has been removed since)

When going to Battle of Britain Game Hub and trying to download "Circuses1.exe", I get a message that says "Circuses1.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer". Should I be concerned and click off or go ahead with the download and not worry?

I scan it as clean and it's a unlikely there would be any threats from there anyways. So, I wouldn't worry about that. It just sounds to me like your anti-virus software uses a white-list (ie, it keeps a database of known *clean* files and sees if what you download is on there), and because our hobby is unfortunately something of a niche, it isn't familiar with this one.

What sort of antivirus do you use? Using white-lists for downloading files seems kind of daft.

Oh, and still all the same, don't blame me if it somehow turns out to be a virus that bankrupts you and runs off with your wife. smile

Edit: Oh, and just to be sure, it was this link I followed to get the file I scanned:

I've been seeing that sort of thing lately with avast. As I expect
that pretty much none of the exes I download are common, I don't
find it a particularly useful message.

Battle of Britain
in 5 Phases

This is a non-story campaign with a fairly accurate historic approach.
The missions are done with artistic freedom but the overall flow represents the actual process of the airwar.

No big final nor any designed suprises/features but perhaps a little repetitive, just like the real war was I guess.

Fly Hurricanes and Spitfires from different Squadrons with a correct homebase as far as my research have found.

AI support/enemies are also from accurately deployed airfields - nothing the player will notice too much of though.

War will proceed no matter your contribution, good or bad, but "mission victory" (by points) will put that side in a more favourable setup in the following mission-part, in terms of planes quantity and quality.

To fast-forward just start the mission and escape out again and you will proceed to the next in sequence (with enemy in favourable situation as described).

Originally built as RAF Fighter Command, this campaign has been extended to be flown as:

I./JG 26 - Bf109E pilot
III./ZG 26 - Bf110C pilot
II./SG 1 - Ju87B pilot
III./KG 1 - He111 pilot
II./KG 2 - Ju88 pilot
Corpo Aereo Italiano 56 Stormo - G.50 pilot (a challange)

These are less historical to reduce pilot flying distance.

Campaign Briefing:

The Battle of Britain can be roughly divided into five phases:

(10 July – 11 August) Kanalkampf "the Channel battles". Luftwaffe attacks the Shipping lanes of the Channel.

(12 August – 23 August) Adlerangriff "Eagle Attack", the early assault against the coastal airfields and Chain Home Radar Sites.

(24 August – 6 September) Assault on RAF Fighter Command, Luftwaffe targets the airfields. The critical phase of the battle. Blenheim raid LW airfields.

(7 September - 30 September) "Blitz", The day attacks switch to British towns and cities (London). RAF sinks numerous barges in Ostend/Dunkirk, probably reason for Op. Sea Lion to be postponed.

(1 October - 31 Oct) FighterBomber Attacks (bombers at night only) what could have been operation Sea Lion instead..

Each Phase is represented with 4 missions with a randomly selected planeset and to some extent a random target area.

Outcome of each mission is based on a score system to keep the war going no matter player result. Obviously, a good effort from the player will add to the side's score.

Player landing a damaged aircraft may earn up to 5 score making it well worth to fly home.

Side with best score will have better planes available next mission, AI and player(s).

(MP version is under contruction but BirthPlace regeneration laughs me in the face :/ )

Edit: Why not add a link too?
