After MGM had its financial problems and SGU was cancelled, I figured this would be the end result. If SGU had perservered, it might have been able to rally. Likewise if MGM hadn't been run by idiots they would've made those other DVD movies already.

That's disappointing to say the least. I only recently got interested in the three series fairly recently. I watched season 1 of SG:U on Netflix and got hooked. I then started from the beginning with SG-1. I'm currently about half way through season 2 of SG-1.

Damn, altho it did have a nice run. Not to many scifi shows can say they ran 10 seasons.

Try none! To date, SG 1 is the only scifi show in the US to run 10 seasons. The previous record holder was the X-Files with 9 seasons.

I'm not certain but I thought they announced that cancellation a while ago?

MGM is Closing the Stargate Franchise down for good.

There will be no more Movies (Theater, Direct to DVD, SyFy Excl. whatever)
There will be no more Series.

MGM Bought the Rights after the 1st Movie. Stargate was Originally Supposed to be a trilogy of Movies, But was Bought by MGM and turned into a successful TV Series franchise.

The News not being announced by MGM at their Press conference a few weeks ago, but by the Series writers at the convention this past weekend.

SG-U is Done, no Movies, no closure, period, SGA and Sg1 are done, no movies. Stargate Worlds is Done and gone as well.

Does Mystery Science Theater 3000 count as science fiction? That ran for 10 years. I still watch that.
