Okay, so I've actually been enjoying the heck out of Shift 2.

Suddenly, a problem with the steering deadzone comes out of nowhere. After working fine since its release, Shift 2 now acts as if there's a 90-degree deadzone on my G27 wheel. I really don't want to re-install the game and lose my progress, so I'm hoping there's a workaround. I've searched, but found nothing. Here's a link to a video posted by another user that's having the same problem:

He's using an XBOX wheel on a PC, so the problem isn't limited to Logitech wheels.

Any ideas appreciated!

no ideas.... but... you can uninstall then re-install without losing... your save is in the my document folder, just copy the folder to a safe area just in case... I did after screwing up my game with a mod.

The 360 wheel is horrid on pc, but it does seem like I've heard of someone else having the same issue on a G25(?) somewhere. Stood out to me since I didn't have that issue. Will keep this in mind if I see anything about a fix.

Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen-

I kept my settings (from the 'my documents' folder), re-installed, and had the same issue. Once I trashed my saved settings, the wheel worked fine. So, it's apparently a savegame corruption issue. Frustrating, because now I have to start all over. But at least I won't go crazy trying to track down the problem!

Hopefully, this won't be a common issue...

I don't think its a savegame corruption, if it was corrupt it wouldn't load. I think you must have changed your in-game wheel settings somehow. Run with the save and without it and see if there are any changed values.

I hear what you're saying, and it's good advice, but that's the first thing I did. All of the values are right where I left them- Steering lock at 540, deadzone at zero, etc... I compared them to the newly created profile, and they're identical.

Plus, since I've dialed in my settings, I haven't been back to the options menu (aside from my recent troubleshooting). I was playing for days without trouble, and then this problem just popped up.

Wierd...

I don't know if it's the same thing, but there is a known deadzone bug which is apparently fixed in the upcoming patch.
