Just installed my new upgrade. I'm running the ATI 11.3 drivers. CCC shows up in the taslbar but won't display on the screen. Any help greatly appreciated.

I have it in two places on my taskbar in Windows 7.

On the left as a major taskbar icon. Just left click once.

On the right, its nested under the "show hidden icons" button. Left click "hidden icons", right click CCC icon, left click CCC entry in the menu that appears.

If none of that works. Shut down and restart Windows and try again.

If that does not work. Pick it out from the CCC folder in "Start", "all programs". Then, it should subsequently show up when you pick it from the task bar.

If none of that works, then ... hmmmmmm??? One could always reinstall the drivers.

This is the most frustrating thing I've had to deal with on the computer in years and I'm not alone. I've never had a problem with ATI before. I'm about to box up the card and send it back and switch to NVidia. This issue goes back years. There are countless posts about this problem. Some people have been able to get it working and others have had no luck. I just reinstalled vista and followed some tips on the internet but no joy so far. I'll give it a few more days but I'm about to pull my hair out over this.

It wouldn't be such a big deal but I play DCS A10-C and DCS Black Shark with multiple monitors.

I left out:

Right click the center of the desktop. Select CCC from the pop up menu.

More than once, I have had a situation where CCC did not show up in the task bar. Then, I go to one of the other places it can be activated -- listed above.

I think a couple times I have clicked on CCC (when the icon was there to click) and it did not "appear". One of the above suggestions would then "solve" that.

But, CCC is not the only thing that occasionally does not show up in the task bar or occasionally fails to appear. For example, the Realtek HD Audio Manager application (that came with the motherboard) also does not show up from time to time. For example, sometimes one or more of my Windows gadgets do not show up. Also, for a few minutes after startup, occasionally, Windows 7 is very slow to respond to a program being clicked -- so slow, I think it failed. But, I've learned to "wait" simply because that's all I can do. Windows may be "screwing around" defragging or downloading a Windows update or another program (like Steam) might be active -- or otherwise something is "busy".

I think Windows does not always "get things straight" on startup. Maybe these issues are more a Windows Vista or Windows 7 issue than an ATI issue??

I read of more Nvidia driver issues than I read of ATI driver issues. I've had virtually none with ATI since 2003 (full disclosure, a couple happened with Eyefinity and Crossfire a couple months back -- they did not actually impact my enjoyment).

Nonetheless, if one has an issue that does not go away, then that's the "important issue" that day. The foregoing is merely a recounting of my "total experience" with Windows hiccups similar to the one you are having. FWIW.

P.S. I run 3 monitor Eyefinity 98 percent of the time now. I use CCC mainly for OC and for setting up Eyefinity. I use CCC (mainly just to check something) every few days.

Try unplugging all but one monitor, then launch CCC.

CCC does show up in the task bar but it just won't run. MOM.exe and CCC.exe both show up in task manager as running. I've run on one monitor then the other with no joy.

I've tried everything I could think of. Right clicked, clicked everything I could find. reinstalled windows, booted in safe mode, run driver cleaners, regedit, installed just drivers then CCC, installed both at the same time, removed vid card from device manager, I'm sure there are things I did but didn't mention because I can't remember everything I did. I guess I'm stuck with one monitor until a fix is found.

Grasping at straws mode:

You say it shows as running -- but, nothing appears on the screen.

Vista (which I have on two computers in the house) is notorious for preventing software that changes system settings from continuing to do what its supposed to do. I would try to get CCC shut down using "task manager" and then try a restart from the Start button menu of "all software". Or go straight to the CCC.exe file and manually start it -- maybe make your own shortcut to it.

Sometimes an Anti-Virus program will do that too -- keep a "system changing" program from running even though its OK to run.

Usually, Vista issues multiple warnings that force one to say "its OK" (whereas Windows 7 is much more lenient and issues only one warning -- doesn't issue warning for CCC). Maybe its stuck in that phase -- Vista not showing warnings, but not allowing it to work either.

One work around with other programs in Vista (that sometimes works for me) is to go to the actual program *.exe file (not the shortcut, but I usually do the shortcut too) and, under properties, check "run as administrator".

In my Windows 7 system, the *.exe is at:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\CCC.exe"

Just more thoughts. Its probably something simple -- once one finds out what that simple thing is. In the mean time, its not obvious.

First, try Run As Administrator as Allen Mentioned.

Most cases I’ve seen on AMD’s boards is that MS .Net Framework wasn’t installed correctly or updated and thus CCC wasn’t installed correctly.

Or When Updating Drivers Previous Files aren’t Cleaned correctly (ATi/AMDs Program doesn’t do a good job of removing old conflicting files).

Try this: (ATi’s drivers and software are funky)

First Download Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweep, which ever.
Download the 11.3 Suite in separate packages. - Display Driver, OpenCL Driver, CCC, Avivo Codec Pack, HydraVision Pack Separately and Save to a safe folder (ie a thumb drive).

Restart, Press F8, Boot to Safe Mode (w/ networking if you can).
Uninstall ATI Display Drivers, CCC, Anything Else ATI., No Reboots
Uninstall MS .Net Framework (Trust me). (if its not there then skip)., No Reboot,
Run Driver Cleaner, Clean Out ATI’s Driver Cache,
Run a file search for ati to ensure no atixxxxxx.dlls remained.
Reboot.
Re-install MS .NetFramwork and all Updates for it.
Install ATI Drivers, Reboot.
Install ATI OpenCL, Reboot.
Install ATI CCC, Reboot.
Install ATI WDM Codecs (if Needed)
Install ATI HydraVision (if needed)

Some systems require everything to be installed individually (as my old old old 9600XT, 7500 and so on systems did, My brothers 5830 system installed everything fine at once).

Yes, good idea SkateZilla. Something is cockamamie in the current setup.

Run ATI driver install -- but check "remove" and check all the drivers and then when all is uninstalled, shut down, then restart Windows and reinstall from scratch.

BTW, Lucky, has it always been thus? Or, is this a new problem that cropped up recently?

P.S. I did an internet search. I could not find anything regarding the current drivers. However, a suggestion very similar to SkateZilla's was found to work with Vista in the past. They seem to think its not cleaning out all of the old driver pack before installing the new one. They suggest uninstalling and then manually going to the C: drive and deleting the relevant ATI folders. Then, reinstall the separate files (rather than the combined driver package) -- as SkateZilla suggested.

Alot of people overlook the .Net Framework Part, to Use the Catalyst Control Center you have to have .net installed, seeing as this new CCC the last few updates is new, then I Assume you'd need the .net 3.5 or 4.0 Framework to allow it to function. The program may install fine, but it wouldn't function or run without the .net framework.

XP doesnt have it built in until SP2 or SP3,
Vista Comes with .Net FrameWork 2.0,

But I Think .Net is up to Version 4.0 now.

When I Assembled my brother's system, I updated windows before installing any drivers,

Windows Update installed the .Net Framework's in this order:
.Net 3.0, .Net 3.5, And .Net 4.0

I assume that .Net 1.0, 1.1, 1.1 SP1 and .Net2.0 were part of Windows 7 Install.

CCC shows up on the task bar but not on the screen? Happens to me once in a while if I have made any changes to monitors or drivers. The program is up and running but on a phantom screen. You need to move it back over to your current desktop.

Here are the instructions that I find works best:

Not sure if this is the problem that you are having but is sure sounds like it.

Here's a thread of folks, some of whom, say they solved the problem. Again, it comes down to how one goes about clearing out the old drivers. Normally, the installer says it removes the old driver first. However, I suppose it can get confused in some cases and leave something behind that breaks the system. There are other thoughts as well.

This thread has booting in Safe Mode and cleaning the registry. I think its a "shotgun" approach to guarantee "fresh start". Sounds reasonable. They say it worked.

CCC Doesn't Show -- Solved

There are multiple versions of .NET. I've noticed that some applications seem to run with only one version. That is, in the past, I've needed V2, V3, V4 etc installed simultaneously for everything to work. I have had to download and install the desired older version of .NET in the past to get stuff to work. Now, it seems to be updated by Windows 7 as needed. I'm not a .NET expert (or any kind of expert, for that matter). I can't tell anything by looking at the .NET folder.

I'm sorry to see that none of this seems to be helping.

Perhaps-fortunately, this is not a common issue or some of us would have the solution at hand.

In cases like these, I just "mess around" trying things until something works. Hard to mess around a long distance frown

I managed to get my monitors setup to my satisfaction through Display Settings so I'm gonna give up on trying to get CCC running. Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Darned if it didn't happen to me today. CCC seemed to be running but did not show up.

It happened while I was running AMD system monitor and IL-2 1946 in Eyefinity mode. I was doing a lot of switching back and forth between applications and CCC. Don't know if that was part of the problem -- i.e. maybe some applications clashed.

Shutting down the computer and restarting did not change the situation.

I used the 11.3 driver package to custom "UNINSTALL" the driver and CCC.

Shutdown Windows 7 -- not "restart".

Then restarted (power button).

Used same 11.3 to install the driver and CCC -- as one would normally.

Seems to work now. IL2 running in Eyefinity and Crossfire (Crossfire has no effect in IL2 1946 -- but, I leave it on all the time). I just now brought up CCC for the last time before I hit "submit" on this note.

I'll report if the issue returns.

I'm gonna be upgrading my HDD's in the coming weeks or month. Also gonna upgrade to WIN 7. I'll do a clean install and see if I can get CCC working then.

All drivers after 10.12 give issues for me in CCC, from the Display Device drop-down selection settings to the Profiles (Or whatever they call it now) tab. So I'm sticking with 10.12!

Decided not to wait till I got Win 7. Formatted my drive and reinstalled Vista 64 Ultimate and now CCC is working again.
