*UPDATE* Flea has released an update to his checklists here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3342810/Aircraft_Operations_Checklists.html

This thread has been locked. Please go to the thread above for questions/comments.

My squad-mate Flea has been, like many folks, combing teh internets for WWII-applicable data for months now, in anticipation of IL2: COD and has compiled a very impressive set of data sheets (MS Excel 2007). They're based on his current knowledge and expectations (i.e., without having touched the game!) so please append the appropriate caveats, assumptions, and disclaimers to the work.

Unfortunately, he's never been able to get his 2GvSAP FTP to work, so I've *graciously* volunteered to upload the document to my FTP and post the link for him (see below).

http://www.2gvsap.org/einstein/attach/2GvSAP_Fleas_COD_Data_Sheets.zip

The data sheets include Flea's preliminary HOTAS and keyboard layout, a full command list, ammo data (including historical loadouts), gunsight and convergence data, and a number of 1 page checklists/fast info sheets for some of the playable aircraft (Spit I Late, Spit II A, Hurri I Early, Hurri I Late, Me 109E, Me 110C-4, and the Ju 87 B2 v2). The info sheets contain useful data like Vspeeds, boost/rpm settings, and oil/coolant pressure/temp limits.

I'm quite impressed with them, and hope you'll find them useful.

As always, please post feedback comments here on the forum or you can PM Flea directly.

Enjoy!

18 April 2011:
Here are Flea's updated checklists. This attachment includes the checklists only, and not all of Flea's other data sheets.

This is really useful, so thanks to Flea and you for doing it.

I hope it's ok, but I took the liberty of preparing something easy for me to print out. Here's a PDF version plus a gallery of the pages. The only thing I couldn't fit in was the entire command list key bindings sheets.

Again, just a format that helped me, so I'm happy to take it down or please feel free to take and rehost as well.

EDIT: Here's the checklists as a printable PDF too:

Thank you so much! Extremely helpful.

Now I'd really like to see some sheets regarding start-up procedure and also engine running procedures...

Thanks Einnie for posting this. Guess I really should learn that FTP thing.

I left this in an unlocked excel file so others could modify to their liking or could update with in game data if they wish. Have fun with it.

Thanks a bunch to Flea-Einstein for this, treasure trove of information. thumbsup I did some research myself the other night into historical early/late RAF ammo loadouts and had the same findings, good stuff. Smile2

Woha! Great work.. looks very impressive!

Too bad we don't have the E-4/FF/M/Minengeschoss (yet?)... biggrin

Also: The 110 seems to get into trouble long before it reaches the stated speeds. At ~480kph IAS at fairly low alt, it starts shaking wildly in a dive for me with the needle bouncing around like mad. Managed to rip a wing off at roughly 550-560 kph IAS.

On Monday, 18 April, I hope to update this thread with expanded aircraft checklists. The Aircraft Operating Data posted/linked at the beginning of this thread was actually only page one of four that I derived from the actual Pilot's Note's and Aircraft Handbuchs. I took the narrative format of the originals and converted them into a checklist format while trying to maintain the feel and language of the original. Again, since I created these prior to the release of the game, I didn't know which aircraft versions to create, but I have expanded checklists for the Spitfire MkI Early (Merlin II 87 Octane with fixed pitch prop), Spitfire MkI Late (Merlin III 100 Octane with CSP), Spitfire MkII (Merlin XII with CSP), Hurricane MkI Early (Merlin II 87 Octane with fixed pitch prop), Hurricane MkI Late (Merlin III 100 Octane with CSP), and the Bf109E.

I need to check the version numbers of the files and one last scrub for typos, and I'll get them to Einstein to post as an edit to the original post.

Good stuff. I'll either revise the PDF and those quick-look screen captures or edit them out to prevent confusion too.

Would love to hear your thoughts when you get to sim on what you think of the FM - some of the parameters seem, um, a little liberal in accuracy.

Ok, I've uploaded a new PDF of all the checklists to here (plus updated the earlier post with a link)

PDF:

If you haven't checked out the first post in this thread, and the two excel files then here's a flavor of the good stuff that Flea authored:

All right guys, I'm planning on publishing a new set of checklists/datasheets to coincide with the N.A. release of COD. I have added a 4 page checklist for the Blenheim MkIV and a one pager for the Ju88A. I have updated the ammunition loadout pages to reflect in game nomenclature and gun numbers. But I need some help.

I am not progressing as quickly as I would like, so I am turning to you guys. I want to make sure the checklists are as applicable to the game as possible. My plan was to methodically test each aircraft to the checklist and identify which procedures do not apply (for example: I already know that the British primer pumps are non functioning), and to ensure that the real life procedures these checklists were created from work in the game. I am also trying to identify which ammunition creates a smoke trail. My research says only phosphorus based incendiary rounds should smoke upon exiting the muzzle, but with the loadout issues, I have been unable to verify this.

So if any of you would want to help me test these procedures, and to create video "Welcome to the Spitfire/How to Fly Your 109" training films based on these procedures, please PM me. I'll keep plugging away at this, but I'm still only getting about 1.5 hours of sim time per week to work on this (plus every bit of down/lunch time at work I can squeeze in).

Oh, are there any German speakers who would like to do some translating for me? I need help with Me110, Ju87, He111 and Me108 manuals. Transcribing from a pdf (and that awful font they used for some docs) into Google translate is slow. And a bit confusing at times.

I request the mods to unsticky this thread. I will be posting a cleaned up and expanded checklist in the next couple of days. Thanks to everyone for downloading and reviewing the various drafts. I think the version soon to be posted will be more user friendly and useful for those new to COD.
