The Fun Series Returns for 3 Special Events!

Our first SCES practice race for Spa will be held on Saturday, 23 April.
So what do we do with the two Wednesday's and the Saturday? Bring back the Fun Series!

Wednesday, April 13, 9 PM eastern time
Saturday, April 16, 12 PM eastern time
Wednesday, April 20, 9 PM eastern time

For those of you unfamiliar with the SimHQ Fun Series, it is a no-pressure couple
of hours of pure fun, no pressure, and guaranteed laughs. We talk a lot, use the
driving aids and slide around. It is the perfect race for the occasional racer or the
noob just getting started. Veteran drivers Birdski, henny, Alex Coutie and Saghen
all got started with the Fun Series.

Forget practice -- you'll find out which track once you arrive! burnout

Would help if I added the specific dates/times to the text and not just the graphic. banghead

Wednesday, April 13, 9 PM eastern time
Saturday, April 16, 12 PM eastern time
Wednesday, April 20, 9 PM eastern time

The Fun Series is real come and go. Several short races so you can come for a while and leave when you need to.

Momentum seems like a big factor with this one. (Definitely not power monsters.) Toban, Essington, even Sardine Hts (for a demonstration of "What's wrong with street courses?"). I wonder if Joesville would work?
Thanks to st-dave for another good one.

These little puppies are off the scale. Everyone should give them a try. Another masterpiece from st-dave and just insane fun.

Seeing as they are 'fun' races i'll be using the realistic shifting option with my H-shifter and manual clutch. Expect me to be facing the wrong direction quite a lot! biggrin

I wonder who's gonna drive the tic-tac??

Looks cool - not sure if I'll be able to make it tonight or Saturday but maybe I can squeeze some racing in next Wednesday.

Fun series racing is also how I got involved here, though there was quite a gap between that and my participation in the longer events. biggrin

My stenken work schedule has me busy until 11 PM ET on Wednesdays. I was thinking that a new Fun Series would be a hoot. Saturdays are OK...

Am I the only one who gets a GMT error. Oddly though it only happens when I try and load a track with AI drivers and myself not when I´m alone on track. It´s the same file every time.
I have tried to redownload the mod.

I haven't gotten an error yet when loading a race with AI ... only tested with Toban Short though.

This looks fantastic.

I'm home from work but have dinner plans, so can't make it tonight. I'll shoot for the next two events though.

Where does it lock Alex? Could it be you're getting the same error as Henny and DD? Maybe the error box is hidden, can u alt-tab to check??

When I alt-tab it doesn't do anything. I am not hearing the ding so I don't think there are any errors. I tried messing with the graphics settings but it's always crashing.

Hehehehe, Sorry DD, i meant LazyCrust smile

Hmmm, not sure why it would lockup like that, do other tracks load OK?

Despite only being a handful of us, it was an amazingly fun session last night. It seemed everyone had someone to race and everyone agreed what a great mod this is. I'd also forgotten what a neat little track Toban is. Very well suited to these cars and most of use did our best to 'straighten out the corners' - occasionally resulting in surprisingly spectacular accidents. We're issuing Stewart with a parachute for the remaining races biggrin

I didn't find the H-shifting/clutching too bad, (this is not mandatory BTW. I was just checking out the realistic shifting upgrade) it's pretty easy to rev match these cars and i think i only dropped it into the wall once by forgetting to clutch. Embarrassingly it was on the second last corner of the last lap when i was leading the race lol

Worst of all is that the realistic transmission model wouldn't let me select reverse so i was stuck headfirst in the barrier like a lemon while everyone went past hahaha

Can't wait for the next one. Let's try to get a few more on Sat and these things will be a monster hit. Oh and i'm dusting off the DTM hotdog trailer to attach to the back of Birdski and Ant! biggrin

Yeah they are kind of fun in a beer and pretzels sort of way. Can you throw some other tracks into the race rotation, maybe a Lienz short, reverse toban, Essington, etc.

Very odd. I don't think we'll be using Toban on Sat so hopefully you'll be OK.

Twas a lot of fun running in those cars, even though I sucked balls, it was still fun... Congrats to the winners last night, it takes a lot of skill to get the most out of these cars...

Sure. Once you get to Teamspeak, just announce you're waiting for the next race. You might have to wait a few minutes but with short 10 lap races, it doesn't take too long if a race is already in progress.

Reminder the Grand Finale for the Sport 2000 cars starts in 10 minutes.

We will be running on tracks we haven't run previously that are part of the rFactor default track group.
