On 4.7.2011 it was time again a Joint battle of the two friendly Comunitys, the SB-General and the TaskForce2011.
Click here for the German report

The operation took place on 07.04.2011 is a continuation of the Euphrates crossing operation.
For those who missed it can read everything again.

The follow-on order from Euphrates crossing was called

Trip to Mosgul

We had about 3-4 weeks for us to prepare the operation, but the enemy did not sleep during this time either.
You can read a summary of what happened in these 4 weeks here. It starts on Post 4!

Based on these collected information and the commands then I imposed a plan of attack:

I planned the attack in 4 phases.

Phase1

March to the west ca.1000m ROAD HOUSE (help objective crossing LOC Tiger; ROUTE 66) with the TF2011 ahead and SB-Generals in the following order of march.
In the area of 1000 divided the west ROAD HOUSE SB-Generals to the right and pull up to the level before the TF2011 overwatch all.

Map (without guide lines so that it is not too full)

From the view of the Co/C

and Co/B

PL1 reached even without the lead line on the tactical map you can see very well & where to find them.

Phase2

Once all combat tanks are on a height the attack on Mosgul is going to begin with battle tanks followed by MechInf on the command of Doc.
Up to about 500 - 1000m before Mosgul.
The battle tanks assume overwatch positions, so that they can provide support to the MechInf while moving into the City.
Attention note movement arrows on the map. From the start of Phase 2 is "Fire at will!"

Attack on PL2 with 4 tank platoons side by side and MechInf and utilities below. The first ENY forces were on the way to PL2 identified early, engaged and destroyed.

PL2 was secured, and Bravo and Charlie Companies organize in formations for the attack on Mosgul.

Phase3 (or the most difficult phase)

MechInf reaches Mosgul while the main battle tanks overwatch their movement.
The TF2011 is tasked with securing AIRPORT (ALEX) secured so that the forces of the Airborne troops (OSCAR) can land and deploy for further operations during the mission.
The SB-Generals are tasked with securing the northern area of Mosgul and then to secure the western part of the city as well so that the first units of T.F. 2011
and SB Generals can get redy for the crossing over the bridges on the BLUE RIBBON cross command.

The way to PL3

PL3 won

the first forces of the B-Company in Mosgul

While the B-Company to the north of Mosgul consolidated it's position ENY tank comp approached.

C-Company's struggle to capture the Airport continued

in order to be able to call in airborne troops to the airport safely, thus enabling C-Comp again to direct its forces for new orders.

View from the Tower Mosgul

A view of the map shows the location of the B-Company are forces already in the area of bridges.

Suddenly, on our left flank the ENY launches a counter attack, fortunately due to our Xo C-Comp 1/1C was in position and the platoon had already finished re-supply.
At the same time 1/1C Platoon is ordered to stop the ENY forces from breaching our flank by all means available. 1/1C platoon was able to fend off the ENY attack.

As if that was not enough some fanatical freedom fighters jumped an additional attack on us, but due to their inferior equipment were destroyed quickly.

They knew however to build IED `s and to fight from behind the enemy - as 1/2C platoon had to painfully experience it as well.

After this event due to the cooperation of the 1/2C and 1/3c the damaged vehicle could be recovered under overwatch.

In the meantime, the B-Comp managed to find a safe transition and cross over to first and to secure PL4.

One more view from the tower to the intact bridge Mosgul.

Phase 4

Securing of Mosgul and deploying further security forces at the PL BLUE.
After the fighting for the city ended city we were ordered to secure the town and PL 4.

PL4 secured, continiung towards PL BLUE

PL BLUE finally reached, forces securing line can finally catch their breath.

At the end I was told to thank all participants who've been there!
For me as an overall CO it was great fun! Even with my not that good english it worked out and we've managed to achieve victory.
Thanks the SB-Generals and other participants for their attendance and the great turnout.
And one thing is said of the trip is not over yet, now it means to recharge and wait for the next job.

To be continued!

Special thanks to Daskal for the control of the text and help in organizing the event and you for reading.
