Advice Needed: Traffic Programs

What gives with FSX and A.I. Traffic programs? What am I doing wrong? First, let me explain what I mean. I also own FS2004. I've used Traffic 2005, Ultimate Traffic, and MyTraffic. With all three, all I had to do was install and go to Free Flight, and there on the screen would be a massive queue of planes lining up to take off on a runway. It was so realistic! I would IMMEDIATELY see planes landing at the same airport on other runways. At the larger airports there was constant taking off and landing just like real life busy airports. It was thrilling. But this doesn't happen with FSX!
I've tried MyTraffic 2010 and Traffic X. I go to busy, big city airports. I see airliners docked to jetways, but no planes are landing, no planes are queuing up to take off, I might, MIGHT, see one plane in the sky and that's one out of ten boot ups. I have air traffic slider turned all the bloody way up to 100%. There is nothing happening. It's so quiet. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I have to do with FSX to create frenetic airport activity that isn't necessary with FS2004?

I have the same issue with TrafficX. I notice though once i contact the tower all of a sudden all these aircraft start chiming in then i see 3-4 moving.
I was thinking of trying MyTraffic by Aerosoft to see if there is any improvement.

Park your plane at the gate, come back in 10 minutes and you'll see everything rocking. I'm not sure why it's different from 2004 but that's how it seems to work in FSX.

It's very frustrating. With FS2004, all you had to do was pick a runway and voila! Tons of planes landing and taking off. In FSX, you are on a runway and all the A.I. planes just sit there at their jetways doing nothing and no planes are landing. Thanks for the tip. I'll try it your way.

If the schedules are real, the time of day also matters.
Good luck getting to your runway during rush hour at KORD...

I have TrafficX and as said above you have to wait a while for everything to get going - this is mentioned in the manual.
Yesterday I was hovering around Ronald Reagan airport in Washington DC and there was loads going on around 10 minutes after I started flying so worth a visit. (I like to set the time to dawn for the lighting effects and you will also see the many planes around)

Yup, it seems contacting the tower and waiting a few minutes seems to do the trick. Although I prefer to wait by circling the airport. Anyway, Traffix X is okay--it's what I have currently installed. But My Traffic 2010 places a lot more planes at the airports. I may go back to MyTraffic 2010.
By the way, the Traffic X manual says to uncheck DX10 Preview. No way. Frame rates in DX9 are too poor with my sliders turned up as high as they are. I ignored the manual and there seems to be no problem with DX10 preview checked.
