Hi,
I´ve started this topic, so all can have a (clear) reading about conf.ini tweaks, sorry if it is write on other places.
First of all, I´ve found two conf.ini files on my system. One on the Steam folder and other on my documents folder.
I've made changes on the conf file placed on my documents. Not shure what the other (Steam folder) is there for, but I had uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud" and Steam Community.
On game menus had change realism setting (almost all on), no changes on grafics menu settings (1440x900 MSAA=3).
On the first training mission (starting from the air), got about 28-30FPS and a lot of freezing/micro freezing.
After turn on the joystick and trackIR, had a drop of about 15FPS.
What I've found so far:
-"AntiEpilepcy=0"
Didn´t find any change on game performance.
- [rts_joystick] FF=0 (default =1) guess this is to turn of ForceFeedback.
No changes.
- [core] DynamicalLights=0 (default =1) VisibilityDistance=2 (default =4) ShadowMapSize=3 (default =5) Mission solo over the sea, gain about 15FPS, from 15 to 30FPS, almost no freezing. Had change this values all together.
THe big problem is when it come in close view off other (AI) planes. Mission over sea player attacking four enemy bomber, when I was just side by side with the bombers it drops to 3FPS. Guess the problem must be "other players detail" (?) when you come to close range, LODS looks to be working fine.
That´s all for now.
Regards
P.S. Sorry my bad English.

Pedro,
Thanks for the info, good stuff to know going forward.
That said, to help give some context to your observations with the .ini, what are your systems specs?

I don't know about the other stuff but "AntiEpilepcy=0" only works in the conf.ini that is in My Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover, not the main program folder one.

Great! I was hoping for a thread like this. Would be nice if everyone posted commands they know and what those commands do in here.
I'm currently looking for info on how to setup icons (like you could in IL-2). Read: I want to lose those ugly arrows and I want enemy icons to only pop-up at around 1 - 1.5 km.
And yes: Would be great to know which of the two conf.inis is the one I should be editing. So far, I've always changed both of them (on in the Steam-folder, the other in the "My Documents"-folder).

The arrows and icons are in the realism-settings panel, the three in a box at top-right (includes two for map icons). I have no idea how to keep the icons with different ranges though.

The arrows and icons are in the realism-settings panel, the three in a box at top-right (includes two for map icons). Yup.. I know. But since I don't want all icons off it would be nice to know the ini-commands to customize them. I'm fairly certain that it's possible - after all: IL-2 could do it years ago.

Ahh.. it wasn't in the inis, it was in the rcu file (no extension). Since CoD also has an rcu file, and since I just successfully tested the mp dotrange command in CoD's console, I assume, this old Il-2 tutorial will work just as well in CoD: http://www.il2-fullmissionbuilder.com/custom-icons.htmlS.

After aply 13594 patch.
The video options are craked! (do no mean after the patch, but it have been).
I had model detail set to medium and when I hit F3 for plane flyby, in a short space, the model load a couple times lods ans texture stages, making the game micro freeze. So had change it to HIGH, no more freezing, and no noticable FPS drop. So the model detail options only change the distance that lods are drawing, dont really use other model detail.
After that tryed to change building amount options. Same, it didn't really change the amount of building but again change the distance they are load. So lower setting = more micro freezing, because they are loaded over and over again. Changing it to unlimited make the game almost no feezing, only with the a hit on FPS. On my system had compensate it, setting building detail to low, getting an +25 FPS flying low over the citys (didn't test over London).
Regards
P.S. Sorry if this was reported before.
