I've heard some people talk about multiple rF installs for different mods....I was thinking about installing the CDTP 2006 mod and I know it changes the UI and some other things...has some sort of Control Console or something too, so I wanted to keep it separate from my main rF install as it's just like I like it rght now.

Is there a Rf Lite or something you use to make separate installs for mods like the CDTP one and other mods? I've got the DVD version of 1.255.

Yes - rFactor Lite has one car and one track to cut down the size of the install. Since you already have rF installed you won't have to register it. Just install, then add mod.

I'm a firm believer in the generic mod enabler and use it religiously now, it will protect you from jacking up your RF but you must be diligent and either go all in or not at all to fully realize its benefits. It doesn't really address making use of stand alone instances though, but there's no reason you couldn't use it on a stand alone mod either if you ever mod the mod so to say. As a general rule for me, if a mod offers a stand alone option, take them up on it, all it uses is addition storage and it wont effect your main RF at all. With the stand alone option, you don't need an already existing additional instance of RF, it will create it for you.

Thanks, gents....I'll have to check rF Lite, the Mod Enabler and Doug's thread out. Those '91 beasts have given me a itch to drive Formula 1 for a bit and that CDTP 2006 mod looks fabulous in the screenshots and video I've seen of it.

I use JSGME religiously and always keep a single rFactor install. Nothing goes into rFactor, not even setups, without JSGME involvement. This way I know that, at any time, I can revert to a clean, freshly-installed rFactor installation to troubleshoot, should it be necessary.

JSGME rings a bell for some reason....seems like I used to have it for something else....maybe the mods for IL-2 now that I think about it. After Suzuka's race on Sunday, maybe I might re-install and see how that works. Have you got a link to it, Joe?

Much appreciation for everyone's help.... thumbsup

Thanks, Doug...appreciate it!

Now, back to practice at Suzuka so I can at least try to keep Papa K, Darren, Alex and probably Pumbaa at least within sight or under 30 seconds ahead, whichever comes first.... dizzy

JSGME works great for installing and moving out mods, providing they don't do a massive re-write of the GUI. If they do, you might want to consider a lite install. Just my experience.
