I took the following guote from one of the Russian forums, Luthier was asked a few times if force feedback was supported in CoD. The orginal question is in bold italics.

Re: Future Project Battle of Britain

Where the feedback control devices. No need to ignore the issue. (After a while one of the posters got a bit irate at Luthier repeatedly ignoring the FF questions)

Here is Luthier's response

"While I can not say for sure - sorry, we like it had never promised it all the time we have been postponed for later. And now more important issues do not allow her to give."

So it looks like no force feedback effects are in the game/sim, nor do they plan to add it in the forseable future. This has been confirmed by people who own the game and now (finally) by Luthier.

If you have a force feedback joystick and absolutely cannot live without the effect then CoD will dissapoint int his regard. If you can get past this omission it then it might, just possibly but no promises, make in to the game in the future.

I'd never thought FFB was a problem to include in games, rather it was a pretty standard component these days. Weird. confused

Gotta say, that really sucks. I love to feel the rattle of the airframe gathering speed on the takeoff run. I depend on the pre-stall buffet to stay airborn in a turning fight.

If you have a force feedback joystick and absolutely cannot live without the effect then CoD will dissapoint inthis regard. Rgr that. I am.

At least that proves that's a different engine from Il-2.

AAAARRRRRGGGGHH.

Both DCS and RoF can build in adjustable FFB support, does this say anything?

Not sure he's saying forget it (based on above, I hope), just that they have bigger priorities right now, which is probably true.

First time I've ever been glad I don't have a FFB joystick.

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

I can live without the efffects (for now), but I sure hope CoD won't be one of these games that simply "deactivate" FF on my stick. I for one depend on it to simulate spring-tension and to re-center the stick. I've had some games in which my FF2 would just flop around like a limp ... errr ... arm. I hate that.

It also puzzles me a bit that they fumbled the ball on this one. You don't really need a dedicated aviation-specialist to slap on some of the canned FF-effects now do you? Couldn't they have just re-used IL-2's effects for the time being?

S.

I've never really liked FFB in flight sims and in fact sold my FFB stick many moons ago. I have a standard joystick now.

But I know it'll hurt people who enjoy FFB - as I couldn't do without FFB in my racing sims.

Seriously this is plain ridiculous. The only real life immersion pc gamers can get called force feedback,

you just skip becease it's not that important in a flightsim? hahah omg..... i really have no words for this.

This simply sucks!

I think it was Gunny who posted that TrackIR was incredibly smooth in CoD. So prolly no worries there ... smile

Love the feel of my FFB.. sad to think we won't have it for this.. yet?
The Maddox team will probably have lots on their plate at the moment, but hopefully they will sort it sooner rather than later.. smile

They're thinking that working very long hours on a feature that a very, very, very, very small portion of the customer base will use (and probably just raise hell about how it was done all wrong no matter how they implement it) is not in their best interest.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.com

From Laser:
"The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Really? I thought everyone had FFB since I've had it for 10 years now.

No seriously, I thought it was nicely done in Il-2.

It's just like saying no track-ir because just a small portion of purchasers will have it.

I would like to know what % of customers use TrackIR or any Tracking device and what% use FFB joysticks. If that's the reason why is FFB in almost all flight sims. Can't think of any recent sims without FFB support.

So another feature dropped, but you don't use it so you think "who cares". 6DoF for TrackIR makes it in but how many people have TrackIR, it certainly will not be close to the number of people who have FFB josysticks. Of the many people I know who fly sims only a very small minority have TrackIR.

Or how about multiplayer? Only a very small minority play multiplayer, would you be happy if they dropped that feature as well?
