Just a heads up. CoD Black OPS is on sale for 25% off on Steam right now. It's still 44.99 after the sale price, but if there is anyone like me waiting for it to go down in price, it has.

I'm thinking of picking this up. Looking to get back into shooters, need a break from flight simming every now and then. It's a good one, right? And are those new maps for free?

Thanks......Newman! If Im read that correctly, on the website....you neede the download version from Steam in order to use this. That would leave me out, as I intend to buy the boxed version.
Got a 100 dollar gift certificate for Walmart, so thought I'd get a couple of games. Will be saving half of it for BF3!

Skip CoD. If you want an arcadey FPS game, BFBC2 is far superior.

If you want a simulator, get ArmA 2 Combined Operations.

If you want a realism based online shooter, get Red Orchestra (or wait for Red Orchestra 2).

If you want a CQC tactical shooter get SWAT 4 Gold.

Pooch - COD Black OPS uses Steam for DRM, so even if you buy the boxed version you will have to have Steam to play it!

Thanks, N. I have Steam, but after Floggers' post I went to see what Red Orchestra 2 is all about. Damn! I just might have to wait for that one, too. Might be hanging on to my money for a while.

If it is anything like the first game, it will be worth it. Cheaper, mod support, vehicles, PC only, nice realistic features, and a lot of attention to detail. It will require Steam as well. There is even an "official" mod being made supported by the dev team. This will feature the Pacific Theater.

If RO2 is not out by this summer, I am sure there will be another Steam sale and you can grab RO1 for $5 or so. Not a lot of servers left, but there are enough to get used to the game mechanics. A nice mix of casual and realistic gameplay.
