"Limited Ammo. This option limits your ammunition levels to historical levels. With the option disabled you will be continuously rearmed when in mid-air. Your ammunition stores will still deplete, but when they hit 0, they will be replenished again. This rearming process can take a few seconds for more complex weapons such as the 20mm cannon on the Bf-109E. This option also affects all other armaments, such as bombs, torpedoes, gunner ammunition, etc. NOTE: Unlimited ammunition may confuse computer-controlled pilots. If you hand over controls to AI control with Limited Ammo disabled, they’ll think it’s Christmas. Especially if they’re carrying bombs."

And, well, this is - I believe - the kind of "fun" that a lot of the hard-core fans have been wanting: "NOTE: We highly recommend disabling Engine Temperature Effects during the early stages of learning Complex Engine Management. The combination of both is punishingly difficult. Some of the aircraft are absolutely unforgiving with both options enabled. For example you risk having your engine seize for good within seconds of improperly setting propeller pitch or mixture on many British fighters."

I am both surprised and mildly disappointed that they mention gunners do not strafe.
What would make sense is to have front gunners strafe (and/or suppress anti-aircraft guns). Aircraft like the He-111 were regularly used for strafing in some theaters. It was Ubi who removed the gore and human ground-targets from IL2. Sterilizing games since 1990.

Manual is a good read, although many topics are just briefly mentioned and not explained in detail. Really surprised there's almost no illustrations and images - several charts, and several images of aircraft for decoration, other than that it's just a wall of text.
But it's quite well written, as manuals go.

And you with your fanboyism. The situation at the moment isn't at all optimistic. Yes, good point, he made a post about taking some time to read a manual. Such an act of a crazed fanboy... So now optimism = fanboy? Well I am optimistic that when all this dust settles, the forum will be back in the hands of the good people that populated it prior to this mess.

AVG just blocked a threat on that site Freycinet. Anyone else get any problems?

A great read, thanks for linking.
I'm really looking forward to it. I think I'll be flying the bf109 around the countryside far away from the RAF for a while, learning to keep an eye on rpm and manifold pressure.
There seems to be an omission on how to fly the Spitfire or is that because it's included in another manual when shipped with the CE?
From my quick scan I noticed that pilot fatigue isn't implemented, which isn't surprising considering how much debate we have had over a feature.
I was expecting a cockpit layout diagram, I guess there will be a hover function with the mouse to let you know what each toggle-able part of the cockpit is?
Is setting throttle and pitch the extent of CEM for start up or will we also get to prime with pumps and engage the clutch etc? I wonder.... nevertheless it all sounds like great fun will be had.

My grandfather was strafed in his back garden by a Ju88, still had lots of the bullets when I was a child. Hawker had a factory beyond the bottom of his garden in Addlestone, later became Plessey, and an AA stationed actually in the garden. He described running for his life into the driveway and diving through the back door. After surviving years in the RFC on service in WW1 (fitter and occasional observer). The bullet marks were still on the coal-bunker though the holes in the house had been filled over by post-war pebble-dashing.
