Hello,
after finishing the KG13 grip, I began to work on a gimbal mechanism.
First I wanted to build simple mechanism around the motorcycle Uni joint, but later I decided to drop it, becouse it would have given too much limitation and compromission.(anyway I have a very nice Yamaha U-joint if someone is interested in buying it). So I decided to build one from zero.
I am in early conceptional /calculation phase right now.
Here is the main concept:
- Stick length and travel acc. to the original Bf109 specifications
- Stick forces matched to real aircraft stick forces at normal cruising speed. (6-8kg at max. deflection)
- Mechanism rolling on oversized ball bearings (size specified later)
- Centering forces provided by 4 extension springs (2/axis) calculated acc. to the max stick forces
- Adjustable centerpoint and stick forces.
- Adjustable damping system on both axis (slight damping to eliminate the spring oscillation effect)
- Hall effect rotation sensoring
- BU0836A control board.
Well this is the road I want to start on.
All ideas, chritics and inputs are mostly welcomed.
