Just wondering. . .

Has anyone successfully replicated a working WW2 gunsight. Seems like it'd be a fun project & in theroy "sounds" easy enough. (nothing ever is)
I've seen a Revi 1:1 scale model over at Hyperscale but it wasn't working & doubt could be purchased anymore as only a few were made. I see that the full off the shelf cockpit builders have them installed so it isn't impossible. Just wondering ya'll's thoughts on the matter.

I've looked at diagrams & such. Internally it seems as if there's allot going on. But projecting the image onto a piece of glass. C'mon it can't be THAT complicated.

Projecting the reticle on the glass isn't the hard part. It's moving the reticle around that'll drive you nuts. It's called a "lead computing gunsight". smile

So what you're saying Gene is you've got it figured out by now right? notworthy

Even still if it's stationary. Would be a great addition to any WW2 pit. Right?!?!

Honestly? It would just be in the way for the most part. I made a crude fake to hide my webcam in for my simpit (freetrack) but even then I had to mount it lower than I like so it did not obscure the screen too much.

Thats on the later types. The earlier ones were just lenses and the range and wingtip width dials were used to change the shape of a silhouette to make the HUD ring bigger or smaller.
