I liked those games, but they never quite scratched the itch, if you know what I mean. Once you finished the (short) campaigns, you didn't have much else to do. And IIRC, T34 vs Tiger's publisher went belly-up.

I guess what I'm looking for in a WWII tank sim is something like a modern successor to Panzer Elite. I haven't found it.

Now that I think about it, my new computer (a non-laptop!) can run Steel Beasts Pro PE...

You might want to take another look at SFK42, it has expanded 10 fold over it's original release in single missions, user made missions, campaigns and playable units.
cheers

They've put up another video, still stated as 'beta'. Doesn't look like it adds or changes anything.

Again, if it was 1995, I'd be thrilled to buy this game.

Nope. I guess I'm stuck trying to make a tank sim out of Arma II. It's actually not bad in my limited experiments so far.

Just looked up the requirements to run this bad boy:

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
PC
Pentium 4, 1.8 MHz or higher recommended.
256 MB RAM, 512 recommended for best play.
DirectX 10.0 compatible, or DirectX 9.1 compatible (recommended for best play) sound and video cards with Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP drivers.
Mouse and keyboard, Joystick is highly recommended.
Throttle and Rudder pedals are not necessary, but recommended to enhance the overall experience of the game. Several manufacturers make models of their flight control systems for the PC.
Video Card that supports Hardware T&L.
Internet connection is necessary to take advantage of the online capabilities of the game.

*Whew* Thank God it supports Windows 98 and ME, I thought I was going to miss out. 256 MB of ram...are you serious?? Amazingly enough it supports DirectX 10...but doesn't support Vista ot Seven? I thought DX 10 wasn't supported by XP.
These specs do look 10 years old...just like the game.

It's a bit hard to swallow really isn't it when you have something as good as World of Tanks that is basically free.

Obviously Wild Bill is hard up for cash and has zero interest in making a good tank sim.

Ha Ha. Indiana Jones quote.

As a flight sim (moslty DCS Blackshark) player that dabbles in other types of combat games (WoT, T-72 Balkins on Fire, Silent Hunter 3/4, Being married to a redhead) I took note when someone said that Oleg has plans to do armour combat in IL2 CoD. This gives me hope of a modern (like say late 80's early 90's) air/ground warfare scenario. I think it would be great fun to shoot a tank controlled by a player from a jet or helo. But, you know what? The idea of a human controled tank shooting ME down sounds like it could be a blast to. Just think about that for a second..... how cool would that be? I would love to see a DCS tank or IL2 tank game.

This is my first post be kind.
