Interesting take on Homefront and game review scores:
http://www.ripten.com/2011/03/17/ripten-review-homefront-pc-gavin-b/

I'll pick up Homefront eventually once prices come down and it gets some patch love.

The biggest problems with MP... IMO... is the "spawn in anywhere", 3 out of 5 times I'll spawn in next to an enemy only to be shot almost immediately. Then theirs the fact that due to getting points for kills to buy more equiptment... half the players, both friend and foe, rather run to a camping/sniper spot instead of capturing objectives, and then finally... due to the point system then buy all those cool toys, by half time of the game almost everyone has some form of advance air weapon like a helicopter, hellfire missile or whatever... so moving out in the open is impossible... so the only ones that lose are the ones who try and capture objectives or play the game.

I usually leave in disgust... thou the potential for the game is/was there.

again IMO.

Wow that does sound like they overlooked a bunch of play balance problems in MP.

I wonder if they would have had an open beta like EA did with BC2, if they could have improved the MP balance for things like that, though I guess that has it's own risks if people who try the beta and see problems then avoid the final release.

Wait, I have this but haven't put it in the XBox yet (too much basketball on TV LOL).

Are you saying that during a game (ie capture the flag/domination type game) you can upgrade weapons by virtue of kills in that very same game..as in while the tickets/points/clock is still running down???

yes, you gain money and on your next respawn you can buy and fly a heliopter, tank or whatever.

GOOD. The marketing campaign for this game was shameless. They built it up like it was going to be the greatest thing ever released. It's refreshing to see a publisher get a well deserved black eye as a result of over hyping a product.

It's actually a pretty simple formula: Sit down. Shut up. Make better games.

This game really changes when you get all the goodies unlocked.
You just have to Suffer while getting there.
I think the end result when everyone gets it all, will be very interesting.

You may ask how much of a difference does it make if you got all the goodies ?

Just to add this real quick with a edit: I was just a touch over even with my KD untill I unlocked everything.
The Xm10 and the thermal goggles will in my opinion completely change the gameplay of this game in the long run.
I think it will become way more tactical. We shall see though, I'm not always right.

The problem Desode, and JMO, how many gamers will play and wait for a fair balance in game... I think most have moved on already... the first 3 days had 20k players listed on the server and down to 10 plus k already... if the stats I read on the internet (and we all know how correct the internet is, lol) are correct.... I see the potential but i also see the flaws which IMO will kill this game within months... like Frontline. (both good games with game killing issues.)

again IMO... but if your enjoying it...more power to you. wink

I agree with you MAGNUM on the games flaws, Heck I was the first person to point them out and I still feel that they are a Major problems.

I personally hope that the players do thin down some, I want to see the Standard COD players gone. No offense to them.
I have talked to a lot of gamers in Voip and the people that like this game are the BF and COD:Hard Core mode fans.

Maybe it will twindle down, but I think the Kaos team will fix everything thats wrong with it.

Heck, Frontlines still to this very day has Full 50 player servers and it came out over 4 years ago. I know of some huge titles that don't even make it 2 years.

I am enjoying it, but I know that a large part of that is due to the fact I'm gaming with a entire group of 16 players all the time.
It makes a Huge difference using team work and strategy, and thats the main source of my enjoyment.

Homefront is a very Balenced game, but if you don't know how to counter the things you run into, you will get ripped up quick.
There doesn't seem to be any true skill rating to keep players of a lower rank seperated from the higher ups.
Its like BF2 (pc), when I first played that I just got put through the Shredder for 2 months before I found out how to play the game and how to use everything that was at my disposal.

MAG on the ps3 is like that too,, In some ways I don't think these types of games are for the casual player.
With that said, I find that I lean more towards these games, for a couple reasons:
1. I play with a large well organized group of older mature gamers (FRC)
2. I like games that have the depth of a lot of things to work for.
3. I like games that open up in to a way more tactical style when I finally get up in rank

Homefront, BF, Frontlines and MAG, Socom,, those are my kind of console games.

Magnum, think of it as a racing Sim or a flight sim,, you have to put in a lot of hours before you get to where you have the skill and the knowledge to feel that the game is balenced for you in the online MP..

Sincerely, Desode

Hey Desode is that group open to new players or do you guys try to keep it locked down (which I completely understand if you did)? I'd love to jump in. I've seen you on playing Homefront a few times but I didn't want to just jump in without knowing if it was open to anyone else.

Let me know. Again, don't feel bad if you guys try to keep to your clan. I totally understand.
