This version just might put some of the third-party add-on companies out of business. Spectacular terrain graphics, elevation, water, clouds, etc.

FSX on steroids. Looks better, but I won't be excited until the "under the hood" details are known.

This version just might put some of the third-party add-on companies out of business. Spectacular terrain graphics, elevation, water, clouds, etc. It DOES look like FSX with all the addons. Which is to say, "Not bad, not bad at all." I remember, however, when FSX first came out, it looked about like FS9 with all the addons. And it didn't slow down the addon market at all. Well, maybe a bit in the numbers, but the quality, if anything, went up. Bring it on.

No, I'm sure this will be good for third party developers. A new sim to design add-ons for. I'm sure there were some that were more then a little worried when it looked as though the franchise was over. They'll be add-on planes for this one, too, in no time. And I'm sure they couldn't possibly have modeled every quare inch of the planet in that kind of detail. So, you'll have terrain add-ons , too. I've got so much money invested in FSX, though, that I'll be sticking with it for a long time!

No one knows how much existing source files will have to be altered to make them Flight! compatible and, most importantly of all, no one will know if every developer will jump on the train to add-on aircraft town. Ideally, FSX would be the last MS sim ever. That would leave ample time for exploitation of its possibilities instead of jumping over to the next sim every few years.

Personally, I would prefer a 64 bit sim, optimized for multicore CPUs and able to utilize modern GPUs as the last MSFS ever. The open architecture was to key to MSFS success in the past. Microsoft would be mad if they plan to change that.

Yeah same here, the openness to third party developers is what made the MSFS series successful, changing it would be lunacy. I would love if they managed to add support for weapons etc. in there by default.
