We need some input. The Navy had one can of blue paint to slap on the SBD, TBD, F4F and TBF in 1942. They were all the same color blue. Our sources are your sources. Pictures on bad film. Book photos enhanced to be more attactive. Paint swatches scanned on a cheap Dell scanner and uploaded. Then we all have a different monitor to view them. I have three computers going and all different. So, we need a "convention"...an agreement by the viewers what the right color blue is. Please look around at computer game aircraft, model airplane builders, photos and artists' concepts of these aircraft at that time and choose the color that you think looks right. All of these colors are used in computer games for the same aircraft. Each person thinks his is right. I would rather use the one that YOU think is right on your monitor. Keep in mind that it will look different with smoke, grease, rivets, rusts and splotches. This is easy. If you read this posting, just respond with a number. 3 seconds. It would be a big help. Thanks very much.

If I had to pick one I'd go with 4 overall. Its tough, I've got a collection of 1/72 aircraft and between the diecast ones and the one I've painted, there are no two "Intermediate Blue" colors that match.

You could probably get away with anything but 1, and not get called out for it.
I'd say 4 though.

Kevin Are these supposed to be for the darkest blue (top of aircraft) in a tri-color paint scheme? Or the "intermediate blue" (the color on the sides of the fuse and cowl on a corsair, for example)?

No what it is refering to is the blue-grey used on the top surface of 1942/1943 naval aircraft prior to the tri-color scheme. I've heard that blue refered to as "Intermediate Blue" as well but it seems to be more comonly refered to just as "blue-grey". There is web page that lists the FS number: http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?fs=35189 To me, #4 still seems the closest. Kevin

4 for early planes, 3 for later.
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.
