Now I am waiting on my MCP and Dual EFIS from CPFlight (6 week Lead time). Next up I will order the overhead bits and start wiring it up and interfacing it. Hope to finish that by end of may. Our new home should be finished by June, so I can move these bits to their final home, and build the platform for it. I'll be stuffing it all in an FDS shell. The Avionics and systems logic software is Sim Avionics, visuals courtesy of FSX. I will be using a 3 projector viewing system to provide 180 degree (about 22 linear ft) of curved visuals.

Kinda of like what Scott did here, but he's still using an LCD for his overhead.

Nat's visuals here may be a better example, though he is using multiple undocked views across 3 PC's instead of across a TH2Go. Edge blending and warping via Warpalizer...

smile LOL, well let's say I won't be retiring this week smile

Its in the 15k range when done.....depends on how far I go.

Visuals aren't that bad, 1500ish on hardware another 400 on edge blending and warping software.

Loving the display set up. And people think combat simpit builders are nuts! Do you have linked controls as well? Very nice pit in any case.

I won't be using linked. More so that the price for linked vs. unlinked is more than I want to pay. And I don't think the F/O side will get as much use as the CPT side. That said, the software takes the greater of the two inputs as primary if you have multiple controls hooked up. I guess I just need to keep the eight year old out of the F/O seat and off the yoke smile

You are nuts smile My friends been building his F16 pit for the better of 11 years now smile He is finally flying it, but like me, never done!

Sir, I humbly beg and implore you to tell me how that edge blending and warpalizer works? How much does it cost?
Dammit, I want one for my DCS A-10!

I wonder he's using the comsumer version of Sol7 that folks at www.mycockpit.org are always talking about? And excuse my ignorance (I have no clue about these setups) but does that display set up give a little bit of "fisheye" lens effect to it? I don't know any better but to me it seems a little disorienting.

There's three ways to get the warp, two of which will give you edge blending. SOL7 does edge blending, but cost prohibative.

Nthusim is the pit builder version of SOL7 without edge blending. Cost $489

Warpalizer gives you warp and edge blending. Going through Ivar's site (great tutorial here http://www.ivarhestnes.com/ivarhestnes.com/Downloads/Visual%20system%20tutorial.pdf )and emailing him gets it down to 350 Euro I believe, and you get both versions.

Then there is Immersive Display Lite 2, which is 39 euro and has some "soft edge blending".

no fisheye, but you want to avoid a lot of keystone adjustment in your setup.

Windows desktop will not warp, so it will look odd on startup. Only the games warp. Also, you'll need short throw projectors for the most part, iunless you have tons of room and no obstructions (i.e. cockpit shell) you'll never do this with standard projectors.

Very well done on the wrap around video! I'm currently using NThusim+ for my set up. The projectors I'm using are Epson 705HDs that output 1200x800. We're a few weeks away from getting the 180 degree collimating mirror assembled. It's going to be _insane_. biggrin

Hey Ice I believe Warpalizer was pretty spendy.. You could try nThusim under 500Bucks.. for triple Projector edge blending and warps..

What kind of setup do you have ??

Not a lot going on with the build as the new house has taken priority.

I managed to install the Dual EFIS and MCP from CPFlight, and I settled on my Avionics and Systems Software that I am using. The sim will now be running Sim Avionics from Flighdeck Solutions. Seems to be the easiest one to integrate with the hardware and given they have a commercial version of this as well, stability seems good.

Hope to have more progress once it gets to its new home (new house).
