Heading out tomorrow for the show. I've been going to it for over ten years and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be sure to bring you folks my annual Tico offerings when I can. I just read that they had a B-2 Bomber show up for today's Saturday show only. pitchafit fooey I missed out on that awesomeness. I remember in the late nineties that my sister, without even trying, saw a B-2 like two or three different times during the same week or something like that lol. At least I got to see a Nighthawk fly at least just once before it retired.

They are also going to have P-40s which I've never seen fly and original Flying Tigers present. That's awesome too!

Okay here's what I got. I apologize for the quality. I'm a greenhorn photographer.(I'm wanting to go digital to help me learn) But here they are nonetheless.
It was a beautiful day. No clouds, light wind and sun.(nicer than what the film shows)

Yep, 35mm. Its a nice Nikon camera but I'm wanting to go digital as there is no way for me to know if my settings are good with the film until after the fact. I like the idea of near limitless picture taking and instant setting adjustment setting if I see a picture did not turn out right.

I didn't really do much in photography pre-digital, but can't imagine shooting something as rapidly changing and dynamic as an air show without it.

It looks like some are a just a little bit over-exposed, but otherwise you did a great job. I like the catch of the stunt plane threading the smoke ring.

If you end up going digital, getting a Nikon DSLR will almost certainly let you use your existing lenses, so at least you won't have to lose your investment in those.

Thanks Arthonon I'll remember that as I have two nice lenses for it.

In the Triplane picture you can actually see a long white scarf. It was cool seeing that flickering behind him. If its the same guy there was a guy next to it when it was on static decked out in a leather jacket, long pants and high top boots. He was really playing the part.

Also that passenger plane with "Zero G" on it, you can't tell because of my picture but written under that it says something about a weightless experience. Do civilians have their own version of the vomit comet now or would this still be something contracted out to space or military related programs/training?

Thanks folks. They always put on a great show oldgrognard. Lots of variety. Lord willing I'll be there next year again. Its interesting the changes that happen over the years. My grandmother introduced me to the show in '97 and I've been to Tico ever since with the exception of two shows or so. If memory serves, that first airshow had an A-10 that actually shot blanks from its 30mm cannon. I've seen Hogs at Tico since but no more blank shooting. One year(I'm pretty sure this was pre- 9-11 but maybe not) they had an F-14 flyby two or three times. This pilot and rio were on their way home from the gulf. I thought it was cool that not only were these guys probably coming from a long stressfull tour serving on our behalf, they took the time to give us Tico visitors a thrill too. I also remember one year that the show was pretty sparse of current military demonstrations.(this would have been post 9-11) I remember once talking a bit with an A-10 pilot who was standing with his plane setup as a static display. A nice gentleman and patient with my probably not so intelligent questions. I don't know, I'm an aviation enthusiest but I'm not a rivet counter. I love sims but I'm not a Falcon 4 professional. I'm certain that I could come up with some good questions but when put on the spot and and overwhelmed by everthing that goes on in a show, I usually ask something simple like "what does it feel like to fly this plane". I think every service man or woman that I've gotten to talk with or have watched interacting with other folks have always been genuinely patient and happy to share with the people that come up to them.

I love Tico Airshow. Its big in that it has a huge and unique variety of demonstrations yet it still somehow maintains a small airfield type setting. The show is like a county fair, air show, and Fourth of July all rolled into one. Kids enjoying rides, parents and grandparents sharing food and drink with their kids, military men and women sharing about their aircraft, T-6 and Huey rides, barbque, beer, soda, sunshine, jets and props.

God is good.

You got some good shots there; the yellow aircraft passing through that smoke ring is pretty sweet.
