Like the first shot.

A bit wider angle would have given more depth to the scene I guess.
Shooting the sun directly on such a clear day, regardless whether you have PL or ND filter on the lens or not, is not advisable as doing so can harm the sensor in your camera.

I don't know, I don't do fishing and I haven't simply seen any.

Well my camera was actually just given to me so I may not always take as much care of it as if it was bought by myself. It's only a basic digital camera, and I haven't used any special filters or anything.

Hate to be the guy that rips on the pics. The scenery and composition looks good, but you have blown highlights and really bad purple fringing and lens flair in some of them. From a photography standpoint you need to keep an eye on the sun and make sure it's not ruining your pictures. Turn around and take pictures of what's behind you, or take the pictures during a different time of the day.
