I spoke too soon. I'm still having heat/limp problem and now other problem. If I move stick up/down quickly, it disconnects everything like I unplugged USB cord...and then reconnects. Warranty is expired. It used to be a nice stick...

I suspect that people are going to start modding these soon. Mines starting to act up too. With my warranty blown out as well, I'm about ready to start crackin' open the stick and seein what I can do myself.

Called tech support and they are offering replacement for 50% off. Sigh.....A joystick that I have to replace every 1.5 years.

Did they say anything about changes made to the hardware? Or might that be admitting a problem they don't want to admit?

Bingo. Unless it's a safety recall (where law suits can arise), most companies keep mum about hardware revisions, for the above reason. The other issue, is if I'm a retailer like amazon, with a stock of version 1.0 on hand, it's now worthless, as everyone is emailing me saying they only want to buy Version 1.5

At this point logi is well aware that this device is unfixable via software, and (ineffective) driver/firmware revisions would only bring this into sharper focus.

My guess is that by the end of 2011, the G940 will be discontinued. I'm guessing the support costs are rising, and controversial reviews don't bode well for a $300 video game controller that's supposed to be part of a premium brand. Throw in lack of force feedback from Cliffs of Dover, and you can pretty much hear the death rattle for this stick.

Logi might try to replace it with a version 2.0, changing it just enough so that you can't swap your current stick out for a new one under warranty, but they're more likely to just get out of flight sims all together. That way, the execs can fool themselves into thinking it was just a "bad market" and not poor hardware that killed sales.

They didn't even spent enough time trouble-shooting IMHO...
