I think this has to do with copying one of the files and renaming the copy but I don't remember which one. Just in case someone does know the answer here is your post from M4T. Last night I took what for me is a huge step: I downloaded and installed my first mod, Stab 6.3. The installation seemed to go well enough, but I am having a couple of problems; these may be related. For what it's worth, I'm on XP, and over the past year or so I've upgraded from 4.07 to 4.10. I've also added the 4.10 patch that was issued a few weeks ago. a)Clicking "Setup" on the main Stab menu results in a window advising that XP is "Unable to launch C:\ProgramFiles\Ubisoft\IL-2Sturmovik1946\IL2SETUP.EXE." b)The "Options" pages appear, but the "Apply" box on each and every page is gray, which is to say nonfunctional. I can, for example select the correct FAF markings, but then I can only click either "OK" or "Cancel;" this of course merely closes and resets the page.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Wheels

The game is at C:\ProgramFiles\Ubisoft\Il-2Sturmovik1946. As a matter of fact, I flew a couple of missions an hour or so ago, and just this minute I restarted the game, using the Stab menu, and ran a quick test of a Finnish mission. The aircraft in the mission had the corrected FAF markings. I'll attach a screenshot. The "Apply" box in the options dialogues may be grayed out, but those particular features do seem to be working. I have a print-out of the relevant README page in front of me. Those are the instructions I've followed, and there's nothing about changing any file names. It just says "Unzip the contents...to a temporary folder," then: "Run SETUP.EXE." The installer did go blank for a couple of seconds, just before it told me it was done. I did rename the temporary folder, as "StabTemp," before I extracted the contents and ran the setup.exe. The temporary folder is now in "My Documents," just in case. I wrote a copy of the original file to a disc.

I am logged in as the administrator. The good news is that, so far, the Stab software is providing the features I was looking for, especially the corrected markings and, as nearly as I can tell, other enhanced graphics. Moreover, I don't really seem to need to use the "1946 Setup" function, whatever it may be. I certainly appreciate your help, Novotny. EH

Hi all, while on the subject of Shturmovik Stab issues...mine mostly works great, however the option to adjust campaign lengths seems to have no effect on the Pacific campaigns, even though it works just fine for ETO campaigns. Does anybody have any ideas how this might be rectified? I'm running IL2 1946 BTW...might be handy information :-) any help gratefully received! For some reason that option was not enabled in the Pacific campaigns. CampaignLength=(Long,Medium,Short,VeryShort", default VeryLong) FB only - allows to reduce a number of missions in campaign. DGen Studies is interesting reading if you want to learn about several of the intricacies of DGen. Asura's DGen update thread at M4T.Asura has been working on an update to DGen for quite some time now. Be careful about using it if you are already running campaigns. It will only work on new ones it generates and breaks any old ones that are not finished. Wheels
