Downloaded and tried four demos recently.

Ironclads: American Civil War - Yuk! They're not serious, are they?

Jutland: This is an updated version of an old DOS game. It looks like an old DOS game. Gameplay is about as exciting and fast paced as wet t-shirt night at a nursing home. I thought I'd like it, but it just doesn't do it for me. Really crazy homebrew DRM doesn't add to the charm either.

PT Boats Knights of the Sea: OK, we've got us a winner! I'll be buying both the original and the new South Gambit version. I really like this one!

Ship Simulator Extremes: Not bad. Kind of intriguing. I'm thinking of buying this one and maybe the 2008 version as well so I can run the Titanic into an iceberg. No gunnery, but still enjoyable.

So there you have it. Your opinion might vary, but that's my very brief take on the demo tests.

Would someone please develop a modern version of Destroyer Command, but with battleships? I'd love a nice, modern "Battleship Command". Maybe set it in WWI. By WWII, the carrier was king, and the battlewagons were relegated to shore bombardment and such as they couldn't steam fast enough to keep up with the carriers. Or maybe a "Cruiser Command". I don't know.

Cheers!

You seem to be on a mission to own/play an awful lot of games lately Sauron. How do you find the time?

Anyway, +1 on the modern Battleship sim but I expect we don't have a chance in Hell of seeing one.
I did manage to get Microprose's Task Force 1942 running a little while back.In my opinion the only decent game of its type.
In fact I will re-visit that today.I have nothing to do and all day to do it. biggrin

*Edit*

TF1942 runs very nicely in DosBox.I'd give my right nut to see this re-made.Ok,the graphics may hurt the eyes a bit but the game play is right up there.

I'm mostly focusing on naval sims, tactical sims, and flight sims, and weeding out old titles to replace them with new ones. Until late last year, I hadn't touched a game in about five years, and had got rid of all my discs, so I'm trying now to build a small collection of titles with a focus on my own genuine interest and quality.

Plus, I'm retired and other than mending fences and a few minutes taking care of livestock most days, I've got the whole day to mess around if I want.

Cheers!
