E-PL1 with Soligor 75-250mm and Fotodiox Adapter at f8, 1/200 sec, ISO200, 100% Crop.
This is nowhere near as nice as the telescope composite of the moon that was posted here a few years back, but I managed to shoot this hand held a couple of weeks ago and thought it turned out pretty well.

BTW, if this had been posted by Haggart, there's no way I would have clicked on it with a subject line like that.
LOL Ken, I tried one of those when I came back from my Norad launch. Full Moon was just over the horizon and it was pink and huge. But the Sigma sucks in low light and without a tripod I didn't bother making a second attempt.

Very nice, especially considering it is a hand held shot..
Have you tried running through a gentle sharpening filter in Photoshop (or similar program)?

Major Magee, I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of running your image through some of the photoshop routines I use for astro-imaging...

Wow. I thought it was cool to begin with, but that's a whole different ballgame.

Just trying out the used 2X Tele Converter I picked up. Because it reduces the light gathering ability by two full stops, increases the 35mm equivalent focal length to 1000mm, and makes the whole lens assembly physically longer (9.75" total), I had to resort to a tripod this time.

Nice shot. I wouldn't want to be somewhere I wasn't familiar and see that sight. To many horror flicks have a shot like that right before someone ends up killed.

I took this shot last night so I would be ready for Saturday night. Sony A33 with Tamron 18-250. Cropped in Lightzone with no sharpening.

Figuring out where the moon would come up with Google Sky Map. Pretty handy.
Image taken with Panny G1 and 45-200. Hand held.
And last one was with my old FZ50, shot RAW and had 1.7 converter on it.

I was in two minds as to whether I should post this here as all the photos in this thread are, IMHO, excellent. Please bear in mind that my gear is optimized for astrophotography, which certainly helps.

Nice shots, everyone. I'll add mine here, just as a comparison, shot with a 7D and a 100-400L lens, at 400mm:
Paul, looking at yours, compared to most of the others posted here, it looks like the craters are in different positions. I'm guessing that's due to camera rotation, right?

Ken, you are correct. My camera was attached to a telescope that was on an equatorial mount, which gives a different viewing angle when compared to a hand held camera or one mounted on an alt/az mount (such as a tripod). I may have had the camera slightly misaligned too .
Oh, and very nice work there Ken. That's a keeper..

Did you find out what went wrong with your LX200R Alicatt? Nice shot too.

Thanks. Think it was dirty contacts on the handbox cable and on the Mode button on the handbox, I've cleaned the contacts and replaced the cable, seems to work but still occasionaly get a few corrupt messages on the display. it's been running for 3 hours now and is tracking an imaginary Jupiter

There was an interesting sunset tint on the moon during twilight this evening. E-PL1, with Vivitar 75-300mm and Soligor 2X Multiplier on Fotodiox OM Adapter at 300mm, f8, 1/8 sec, 100% Crop
