Installed it fine without much problems. Turns out 79mb is actually closer to 1Gig. Took about a hour.

I just installed SP1 on a Laptop, which solved some issues. None to report though.

however Win7 is more Versatile that people think.

I installed Win7 Home Premium on a HP dv1000 Laptop for a friend over the weekend.

Single Core Pentium M 1.80Ghz, and 512 MB of Ram, with intel 8xxx Series Accelerator.

1st part fo the ram was given to the Intel Graphics chip. so Usuable ram was like 504MB.

Setup took around 40 minutes (Ran ISO from a Thumbdrive to bypass CD seek / transfer rates) (USB 2.0 Flash is way faster).

Sound Chip installed fine (though HPO said it wouldnt).

Had to force XP drivers for Flash Card reader, 56K Modem.

Finding A Driver for the Intel 8xxx Series GMA was the big pain, took 3 hours of digging to find an XP package that would install and even then I had to turnoff things in the start up to get it to install.

Once the drivers were installed, I had to do windows update w/ 69+ Important Updates and about 10 optional (which were all system drivers).

After that I did the SP1 update.

everything runs fine.

on that OLD Laptop.

I've just noticed a problem with my system that may or may not be related to this service pack.
I can no longer run Games For Windows Live.
If any of you guys who have installed the service pack and are unfortunate enough to have to use GFWL can you see if yours still runs?

Thanks.

Chucky, I just started up Blacklight: Tango Down which requires logging into GFWL and it worked.

Thanks LZ_Xray.
This is an annoying problem and I'm not the only one with it.
Ah well,I'll play something else in the meantime.

Couldn't even install the update. Always got a typical Windows nothing-saying error message and gave up in the end.
I use Windows for gaming only anyway and not as a productive system. And for that it's working, so I don't care.

I needed SP1 to fix an issue with Windows email and to run the new version of TARS (don't know why, just happened to be the case).

After installation I noticed the speaker icon (lower right) had an X through it. Having seen that many times before I tried the usual fix but I couldn't find the mixers. Looking again, I saw a lablel reading something like "No audio or speaker output has been found". Hmmm...

I went into Sound Manager and I could not change any default device or configure my speakers, headset (both speakers and microphone) or output device.

I did everything I could think of: drivers, Creative bloatware (I have an SB X-Fi), turning on the OBS chip...nothing works. I even pulled out the sound card and physically reinstalled it. Zip, nada, zilch. Now I've done the only thing left: buy a new computer. (Not as bad as it sounds as I was already saving up to get a new one.)

Put me in the "SP1 sux" bin.

ATI users who use a driver cleaner utility may encounter issues updating SP1.

Check this link for a possible solution:

"Windows 7 SP1 Installation issue - Error 0x800f0826"

However, the most likely solution will be an in place repair install of Windows before applying SP1.
