They finally got the call to scramble around 1. Killer Flight of 2

Lead

Wingman

an hour later they returned, provided an nice overhead to announce they're back.

1 low pass each, this guy appears to be looking over to make sure I get his good side.

Catch the C-5 from neighboring Westover ARB

Then landed

And taxied by me

Nice catch! Good to see some screamin' Eagles again.

Out of interest, is there any particular reason why one is a D (minus backseater) and the other a C, or is it just "the way aircraft were assigned that day"?

Very nice, we occasionally get Lakenheath F-15s passing over here, which is great because the skies have been quite since they ditched the Harrier frown

That's what I love about Southern California - I've got the first air show of the season in about three weeks, and a week after that I have to decide which one of two to go to that are happening on the same day.

El Centro is on the 12th, and Yuma is also on the 26th (not technically SoCal, I know, but within a few hours driving distance from me). I had the dates wrong - they're two weeks apart, not one.

A friend of mine Randy lives in Vegas so not only does he get to shoot Red Flag and just Nellis Traffic but he gets all those Cal air shows. I have to keep telling him to stop rubbing it in. I'll have 4 air shows to hit this year but 2 of them are shooting into the sun and one is Pease again so I won't be going on seeing they're charging $30 to get on base and more to park....

Rhode Island has the Raptor Demo and the Horsemen in the F-86's and seeing it's an old Amphibious Air Navy Base they are hopefully bringing in some of the Navy TAC demo's seeing this is the 100th Anv for the Navy. NAS Brunswick also is on the list.

Can't wait to hit Oceana again this year!

Yeah, as many shows as we get in SoCal, 3/4 of them have you shooting into the sun. Planes of Fame is the heart-breaker for me because it has such a terrific collection of classic aircraft, but is usually hazy and you're shooting into the sun most of the day.

Thanks LB and Jim. As cold as it is during the winter, the snow is a perfect reflector and keeps the underbelly well lit!
