Sounds like your factory was in China though, Paul. And that's a risk of doing business over there, where copyright/patent/trademark law is just the punchline to a bad joke.

Everything is made in China in the hobby industry. Even Castle, who assembles their ESC's in the US, manufactures the components in China.

While China presents challenges in copyright etc... there is no reason why US companies shouldn't respect their competition. Nitroplanes doesn't. They are ruining the industry. So, if you want the hobby to die to the point where only the sh!ttiest crap gets made, go buy nitroplanes.

I haven't been flying much lately, but looking at all these pics has me wanting to!

Couldn't agree more. GWS foam electric kits are great. Especially to let a new pilot try out the hobby... the Tiger Moth and Slow Stick are great flyers and once you get some stick time in one you land them almost any where and easily fly them in small parks or larger back yards. The warbirds are very easy to convert to brushless and are a blast with no gear and doing belly grass landings.

I've been recently dusting off my old RC planes and my GWS planes will be back int he air soon to fly with my 11 year old son. smile

multipex easystar is another good starter, quite a lot of the new guys at our club start out with them.

I've heard this as well. The easy star has a reputation for being a good "work horse" plane, good as a photo platform, payload dropper, etc.

Any word-to-mouth mentions of BlitzRCWorks? They have some large 58-63" wingspans.

Just spotted this and thought I'd add my ha'penny-worth:

I recently bought a Parkzone T-28 Trojan and a Spektrum 6 combo; Great little plane and fairly aerobatic.
Something I wasn't aware of until the guy in the shop took it out of the box is that it has an undercambered wing, so will fly very slowly.
Requires a fair bit of 'down' to stay up when inverted though!
Everything else I saw in this size range seems to have flat plate wings.
No building whatsoever required and the (very cheap) batteries swap out from underneath without any hatches.

I also bought a 'Beast' biplane, but the Trojan gets the most stick time at the moment...the name is not chosen lightly wink

After spending years building from plans and faffing around with 4-stroke glow engines, it's great to just decide to go flying, and actually be flying 5 minutes later!

FYI, your referring to the Ultra Micro Trojan. I can vouch that this is a fantastic plane as well. Parkzone also makes a larger Trojan, with a wingspan of about 42."
