Late to the party as always but I hope not too late to add a few thoughts.
For approx. the previous four years I have been the admin for a small, rFactor-based, road-racing series (ASRL Rewards Series). Interest had dwindled over the past year to the point where we are on hold, pending the release of rFactor2 and the expected ( I hope) return of enthusiasm.
The itch to do some sim-racing kept growing and I decided to try some racing SimHQ-style. The first attempts, in the enduro series did not work well at all since my sim-racing buddy of many years and I tried to do it as co-drivers. Two successive experiences where we prepared quite a bit for the race only to see it ended at the first driver swap with crashes to the desktop ended that. Still, the atmosphere of SimHQ racing was congenial and well-organized so I decided to plunge into DTM when its time approached.
As an admin I am used to having to do a bit of work to get my sim-racing fix. For DTM all I had to do was download and install the indicated files and run the practices and races. I even was given a painted car with my name on it! This felt like pure luxury to me.
The racing was very enjoyable from my viewpoint. The mix of skill levels was such that I was able to fit in without unduly holding up the super-fast guys ( I hope) and still get in some good racing with folks who were near enough in speed to me that on occasion we were at the same pace.
So I wanted to express my great thanks to all who contributed to making it possible for me to just show up and have a good time. Of course, special thanks to Doug for what, in my experience, had to take considerable time and effort to achieve.
