Please...

Someone help with setting up the wires to trap using FSX standard and VRS Superbug.

I have been reading but I just can not find the answer.

I have aicarrier2, arrcab, Flight Deck 6

I just can not trap on the carrier. Hook and gear down and I always just land right through the wires.

Do I need to get Acceleration??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bandit, can't imagine why you don't have Acceleration. Not telling you how to spend your money, but I'm assuming that if you spent over 40 dollars for the F-18, you can probably afford it.
While not mandatory to run their Hornet, VRS does highly recommend that you use it with the Acceleration add-on.
It actually improves the graphics, helps FSX run better, and you get some new planes. Don't know how much it would cost alone, because mine came bundled together with FSX. One of my best buys ever at 39.95! But, really, you should look into it. As far as trapping on the ship, I'm not sure if the hook actuallly grabs it or not, or if it's just simulated. I've beeen practicing a lot to get ready for TacPac and I sure come to a dead stop when I catch the wire so it must be working. If your managing to stop, I'm gussing it must be working.

Dump Flight Deck 6 and get Acceleration installed.

Go here:
VRS forums

And get these things installed here:
Carrier tracks, Nimitz, Ai Carriers, ect.

The folks at the VRS forums will be helpful in getting you set up too.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys!

Pooch, I really meant to say that I land on the carrier but never get trapped. I just touchsown on the deck and fly right off the ship all the time. As for Acceleration...I bought FSX Deluxe Edition the day it came out. I really havent touched it in a while until I saw the video for TacPac. Then I started looking into Superbug and I was sold. Reinstalled FSX and the Superbug and have been having a blast learning all the systems. Awesome piece of software. Just having a problem stopping on the carrier and mid air refueling.

I guess I will take another 60 mile drive to Microcenter tonight to get FSX Gold for 29.99. I had it in my hand yesterday and I thought Flight Deck 6 would be all I need. Only problem is I already told the lady that tonight we would watch a movie, eat dinner, turn off all cell phones and relaz together. Now what? Do I stage a fight? OR...Do I drag her all the way to the store to get Acceleration? LOL I have 900 Best buy, Gamestop, Walmarts and Targets near me, but none of them have it!

MrFrank...You are so right about Flight Deck 6! Where are the textures?
After flying the Superbug for the last week, their F18 just doesnt cut it. Luckily it was only $14.99

FWIW. I walked the same path. Jon did an awesome job on the Superbug.

Thanks for the help again!
I downloaded Carrier Tracks, ArrCab, Aicarriers, etc...

I can land on the carriers but I can not get stopped by the wires.

I downloaded Dino C's GoShawk and F14 and none of the gauges, sounds and HUD show up.

Screw it. I ordered Acceleration ( FS X Gold ).

This way I can do their carrier ops, fly Dinos planes and HOPEFULLY get trapped on the carriers.

Last question...will I be able to use the Superbug when flying the Acceleration missions or do they force you to use the stock F18? I would assume I would be able to check "allow changes".

Thanks!

Did you set up carrier ops in the VRS Aircraft Manager?

RS Colonel,
Yes, I did check "carrier ops"
and I selected Javier's Nimitz

Acceleration will be here tomorrow and we will see then if I get trapped.

Bandit, are you sure you're actually catching a wire? Not putting your flying skills in questions, just asking. Maybe you're all setup OK but landing a bit off the wires...

Anyways, I agree with above posters, get Acceleration (or FSX Gold...), worth every penny and you'll save yourself all the arrcab headaches!
