You cant assign anything to your gamepad through EECH. Assignements would come from whatever software the gamepad uses programmed outside of EECH..

Thanks for the comments. The pit wasnt ALOT of work really, If I wanted to duplicate it, I could do it in a weekend. Most of the time was spent "winging" the design. \:\)

I work 10 days a month as a firefighter and got rid of the wife 13 years ago. That pretty much takes care of being able to do what I want to do.

Yet another question is it possible to "add keys" or model new function macros into EECH?
I'd be willing to bet that if Arenh takes any interest in this he could do it.

Some of the values arneh added.. not sure how extensive his changes there were.. time of day would be a good idea too (but maybe not dynamics related :p ) Windshield-wiper status for the true hardcore fraction

Is it possible to export values for:
1. Counter Meassures - Number of C/F remaining
4. Not sure about the proper name - the small lcd panel for additional text warning information.. ?

The upfront display and the ekran in the apache/havoc - yeah that should be no big problem (ie you'd get the strings displayed there)

2. Number of ammo remaining
(sub categories: gun 1-2, missile1-2 etc.)

Not sure if that is easily available.. I wouldn't want to change too much in-game, up to now it's mainly copying whole structures around, in a few central locations..

I know it's on HUD but that could go down by damage

That's an interesting point as right now the exported values would still work even when the "real" (in-game) compass is damaged.. as I get these values directly from the FM and not from the helicopter model that says "you can't get this info, as the instrument went dead".. not sure about that yet

I'm wondering would it be possible to revert the LPT Switch sw and board to lighting up those warnings? Perhpas not I've never seen it so far..

But for instance the Master Card from Opencockpits can handle 64 digital outputs which is enough but a bit overkill just for lighting up LEDs..

This really is a question for the simbuilders.. I can just make this info available, the actual interfacing "glue" code will have to be done by them (and hopefully shared as well)..

Btw. The Havoc people if any around interested in piting are into some serious labor with so many warning lights haha..

Yes but then their simpit would be a bit more lively than the kinda sterile comanche pit ;\)

Retro> thanks for the clarification..

Here I've just posted question/request to the UDPspeed author on their russian forum. If you would like to add some questions to him I can re-edit my post and forward it..

I think I've mostly just added more engine values (NG and NP RPM, APU RPM and maybe a few more). If you want to export them you should check out the dynamics structure it contains all sorts of interesting flight data (and some not very interesting ones as well \:\) ). In fact if you look in the debug data it writes to the watch window in debug mode I'm sure a lot of the same values would be interesting to export.

If I remember correctly, the helicopters have slots for each weapon type, and for each slot there is two (or maybe some more) numbers. The first one is type of weapon and the second is quantity. Exporting that shouldn't be very hard.

Also counter measures is stored in the same structure.

You probably want to export the damage values as well. Would be nice to have on it's own for say a damage panel.

I think the first step is to see if the author of the UDP program can interface wiht the data from EECH. I imagine that Retro would be the contact since he is already exporting some of the data.
Pretty heavy reading for me.

Have any of you guys used the Fresnels you can buy at http://www.3dlens.com? I currently use their F550 - have a nice black box I built out of foam and attach it to the monitor with velcro - works real well and it has a nice focal length.

It is about 10 inches from the monitor and I still sit at my normal viewing distance - though I can move further back without much distortion.

Just curious if any of ya'll have used this lens and compared it with some other ones?

I do notice that in sims like Falcon - if I pan my view to the pit to flip some switches etc., there is some white light distortion (fresnel users will know what I'm talking about) - do ya'll get the same thing with the lenses you are using? I noticed that the simpits lens had some sort of polarization/anti glare coating.

I use my lens for everything - not just flight sims - it is that addictive once you use one. The depth perception it gives is phenomenal - using a regular monitor just seems so flat now.

Next step is for me to get a real pit - not the ghetto one I have now (I'd post pics if I knew how).

Yes, i have used one very similar. I got the same white light issues. It was another factor that made me go to a multiple monitor setup. Also, like you said, when you're reaching around, you get a bit of distortion and that brings you right back to the reality of the setup and takes you out of the immersion.
The great thing about the fresnels is the price. Its a nice cheap way to get some new views. I would call it the first step to building a larger immersive type simpit. They are nice and easy to mount for the desktop flyer. I would highly reccommend anyne to try them out for the low cost.
In fact, I think thast the way i'm going for the first step in my racing pit. Most of the time you are focused on the screen and you can more easily set the pit up for the desired focal lenght.

>To post pics, you need to upload the picture to a site on the net. Either your own web storage site of one of the free ones. (guys here can point you to a free one).
Then when you post here, you can use a tab, from the full reply form,to assign the location for SimHQ to retrieve and link the photo to your post.
Thats what I do anyway, if theres a better way, I'm sure the guys will jump in and tell you.
We surely want to see some pics!!!!
