Wakeel, dont think so. Not for FS, unless you wanted to start networking PC's, and I'm not even sure that you can network a PDA, even if its a Windows CE based OS.
I might simply suggest a Nostromo gamepad like I mentioned earlier in the thread. You can program around 40 keypresses that emulate a keyboard. It works perfect in FS. Havnt tried it in EECH but it functions like my X45 and that works perfect as well. Cost was $37.00 US.

Finished another few things and the plywood is slowly disappearing. I made a rig for the X45 to swap out with the flight Yoke. Then boxed in the CH throttle quad a bit more and built vertical panels for the future home of the switch panels. Also recessed the X45 throttle into the side panel. Have a look...

Kimchoc - Nice progress!

I see you went back to the original joystick length. (I remember you saying the extension tube created too much stir.)
Did you find that shorter lengths still caused too much stir, or did you just opt for the original, for easier mounting?

I have two. You can see the extended one beside the pit on the right. I just made a rig so that I could fly now. Its still not quite what i want but it works until I can come up with an idea. I'd like something that sits in between the legs and mounts from a floor position. Perhaps extend the length about 4". Maybe I need to experiment with the other stick length. This rig was just quick to build and swap ouit. note the two wing nuts on the shelf in front of the lower monitor. Just unwing it and drop the platfrom. I need to make a storing place like I made for the yoke. On top of the left vertical panel. Because you can still use all the buttone on the stick since its connected.

Firstly thanks for this great thread!
I didn't know about the VR fresnel and also hotas link is excellent for any future joy action..

There is a neat hack from Danmark how to turn your $30 ALU scooter from China into hot two axis colective! Again the pots can be mounted either directly via gameport or via usb controller:

That guys has some interesting diy rear projection ideas as well..

Another idea, how hard it would be for some of the EECH mod devs to program a little progiee which would spit out data about all the individual warning lights going on/off.. This will be mostly usefull for the Ka-52 pit where there are many of them..
Thanks

You mean so we could hook them up to some lights on our boards? never thought of that.
Well, it would take a modder with an interest in doing only that or other simpits ideas. As it is now, modders work on what they want and thats about it. Rightly so I suppose. But thats the actual answer. Most all the great mods come from mod guys that have their own interest in mind. We are fortunate enough to reap the benefits of their work.

That is a cool collective. I can browse the simpit sites for hours and look at the ingenuity of some guys.

I'm doing away with my fresnel this weekend. It just doesnt work out for the panoramic view that I am after. I am headed for the 3 monitor setup with a AGP card and a PCI card. The fresnel was a cheap way to get some more screen size, but after using if for some time, I dont think its worth the tradeoff for the loss of clarity and the exact positioning that your head must be in. I never found the right fresnel anyway for a 30" seating poistion. IMO

I stumbled upon this little goodie this week and have it coming. I am going to use a n encoder to hook up some of these switches. The seller has alot of other good stuff that is generic to simpits I think. I have my eye on this item for an overhead panel. Even if i just hook up some lights, it will look cool. Pretty sure I can get a switch or two operable.

Have any pics of your setup?

Warning lights>
exactly that's the idea to have those 20 or something w. lights in Ka-52 on the panel with MFDs if possible as well (I've seen the experimental thread on this topic inside the Ivibe thread)..

Fresnel>
I thought you are using the VX-1 so you are not satisfied afterall?

My setup> frankly I'm torn apart as to whether wait for Lockon Black Shark and made full sim cockpit 1:1 like the crazy airliners sim guys are doing. Because Lockon now supports glass cockpits, HUDs, perhaps also MFD/ABRIS export view in the near future it just supports sim pits in general to a great detail. But that would be a multi year span project - have you seen those recent BS WIP videos from cockpit there are tons of switches and control elements of various kind, amazing..

However, I really like EECH and I think it has still some potential so to make a small sim pit with warning lights and possibly MFD would be cool too.

Btw. those cockpit parts from Arizona aircraft desert cemeteries are great, go for it..

I was satisfied with the VX for the rpice and what i gained in a large display. But it is the wrong foal lenght for my pit. It is for about an 18" viewing distance. At 30", i really didnt gain much of anything. It was a good learning experiance. I would recco it IF someone had a 18" setup. For 56.00 US, it is a bargain.

Heck, build something. These pits are always a work in progress and I cant ell you how nice it is to sit in a real seat with a back. For a few pieces of plywood, you can have something built ina weekend. Then you adapt it as you go along.
I am on phase two of my setup. I still may try a projector at some point but I really like that Triple Head to Go unit. The expanse of the view is stunning when setup correctly. I read that the Lock-On boys have almost got it perfected. Its such a new piece of eqipment, i might take a year or so to really get all the reso's setup correctly.
I got a 19" widescreen monitor the other day that I thought I could use in the middle of my 3 panel display, but its too short. Only 10" of display height where my 19" has 12". Who knew? So i am on hold again until i find couple more monitors closer to the size of the 19" I currently have.
I havnt seen those videos but I've seen the unreal looking things that guys build for sure. I cant imagine how long it takes for the to get the sim all setup and then just when you're getting ready to take off, the game crashes. LOL !
I dont think I'll ever go that far. I just want to throw a few light switches, engine start-up, an Autopilot, landing gear, flaps and a few other assorting single pole switches. I am looking at the Hagstrom encoders for this winters build.
I have also found that i am going to have to build another pit just for the racing. Too many controllers and you cant get a "all use" type pit that works for eveything. A couple sheets of ply, another car seat from the junkyard and a weekend. Bingo, racing pit.

Go ahead, get something started. The building is most of the fun.
