Sorry if this is a known issue. Scanned the forum, didn't see a reference to this problem.

Downloaded and installed SH4 Gold from Ubisoft. It seemed to install and run properly. Played a couple hours of Sub School.

Was advised to install Webster's Game Fix Only mod. Downloaded and installed JSGME, then GFOv1.1. GFO mod appears to have installed properly. GFO splash screen appears when starting the game.

However;

a) My pre-GFO saved game would not load. No big deal.
b) Now every time I exit the game, I get a Windows error; "SH4 stopped running." (Win7/64, Intel Core2 Quad, 8GB RAM)
c) Just now, completing a career patrol and headed back to Manila, game crashed out to desktop with Windows error; "SH4 stopped running."

Uninstall and reinstall? Scrub GFO?

Suggest scrubbing GFO. Uninstall using JSGME, try another mod like TMO or RFB and see how that goes.

Complete uninstall and clean reinstall of SH4 Gold and GFO mod fixed it. Now working like a charm. Have no idea what the cause of the problem was.

So, now... Doing okay. 34000+ tons under my belt, Navy Cross in my medals box.

But how do you land troops?!? I am surfaced, parked about 100 yds offshore for where the marker is. Cannot for the life of me figure out how to kick the troops off the boat. No little square has appeared like the "Dock at XXXX" square. Can't find it in the manual or help screens, either.

Is this a mission where you need to insert some commandos? It's been a long time but IIRC you need to be at the objective marker, surfaced and stopped. There should be a button on the toolbar at the bottom you click to send the troops awayy.

Found some guidance on SubSim.com. I'm not sure how/why this worked, but I stopped surfaced the ship at night a few thousand yards offshore, moved in to about 100 yds from the beach, and waited. Nothing. Then I submerged the ship and immediately resurfaced. I then got the "Launch Boat" prompt.
