Introduction

Each event of the series is intended to provide some variation on previous series events to maintain interest. Consider Round 4 at Brands Hatch to be the "easy" (or "easier") event of the series. We will use the 10, 20, 30 lap format with no mandatory pit stops. All starts will be a formation lap then a standing start.

This message is on P&P Engineering's answering machine...

"P&P Engineering have gone on holiday to the Greek Isles to watch scantily-clad females and drink tall adult beverages. We will be back in the office on 21 February."

Just our luck, huh? The setup that is now on the server is the first and last setup for the Brands Hatch event.

Before they left, I had asked P&P Engineering LTD to concentrate on handling and make a forgiving setup, even at the cost of some speed. It will probably not be fast enough for some drivers, but try to get in the spirit of using the one setup and making it work to the best of your ability. You will need to use the free settings to adjust the car.

At Super Bowl half-time...
I did a few laps at Brands Hatch Indy yesterday - the version DTM used. I'm glad we're on the full course.

A setup for the impatient: http://www.filefront.com/17907327/DTM09 Brands Test.svm

Not a meant to be a finished product, but just a place-holder until P&P get it cranked up back in the shop.
I'd look to see if it could handle the bumps better, without sacrificing handling - turn ability.
Again... It's just a place to start while we wait.

... back to the game.
cheers

I did a quick test too. Brands is one of my favorite tracks and The DTM's are simply incredible round here. It's much easier to put together a good lap than PR. I think we will see some very close times although i suspect the weight penalty will hurt more than we've seen at other tracks.

Hi Doug and everyone, I would like to give the DTM cars a run at Brands if possible.
Are all the downloads needed for the series in the info post above?

Thanks, David K

Great news David smile

You'll need the original DTM download which i'm sure guod will PM you and then install the track above. There's no need for the A1-Ring patch anymore as the brands link includes all the modded files. Download and install the DTM_CarsV2 skinset and then install the supplemental cars over the top. You should be good to go.

The boys in the ADC/FRC paintshop already have a car waiting, it just needs a number wink

Here we go with another fastlap vid. This Brands Hatch 'special' also includes a couple of extra cams and basic telemetry biggrin

Enjoy.

What, in theory, should have worked out well time wise is not working out well at all for me. So I would like to drop out of the DTM series in order to keep from wasting a slot for someone else.

I'm thinking for the next race series where penalties are added for the top drivers, that a little aerodynamic drag be applied instead of weight -

I may have to miss the event, or at least the beginning. The cable guy is coming to fix some digital tv issues. Was supposed to be here earlier, but still hasn't arrived. It's putting my race in jeopardy. I'll try to make what races I can.

Good racing today. I was doing well in the second race and crashed into a wall right at turn one. I pitted for repairs because my steering felt a bit wonky and really ruined my race. Next race, I had a great start and moved up a couple of spots, but spun on my own somehow coming out of druids and put me dead last with about 10 seconds to the next car. By lap 10 though I had gotten back to my starting position and managed to get one more spot. I pitted for tires and went back to 7th, was catching 6th but there just wasn't enough time. Congrats to all the winners. Just a note, maybe there should be a weight penalty per win, seeing as Darren and Chunx are always a second or more ahead of everyone else. It might close up the field a bit in the last race.

Alex, Darren, Chunx and I talked about that very thing after today's race. I really hate to jockey with the ballast in the last round, but hopefully the format for the final event at Norisring will keep it closer.
