What DRM will the game use?
IL2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover requires a onetime online activation, using the Tages system you will receive 5 activations and a new install every month.
Uther see bold text above... Sounds like an pretty OK DRM to me (at least as long as they keep their registrations servers on-line). I skipped SH V and was worried they gonna use the same on IL-2:CoD but thankfully Ubisoft re-engaged their brains. /KC

Will the game feature a dynamical campaign? No, at least not in the initial release of the game. The campaigns are all scripted and focus on specific events.
I'm more disappointed by this tbh. And no - I'm not slating the game - but I had hoped for more than scripted missions

Don't worry, there will be scripted campaigns, probably with some branching and some new campaign features as well. I also am a bit disappointed though.

No dynamic campaign, huh? Sorry, I've been burned too many times with "it'll come out after release" (LOMAC, ROF).
Sorry Oleg, you just lost me. Really disappointed.

5 activations? how does that work then? I must have reinstalled il2 20 times over the last few years! It also says: "you will receive 5 activations and a new install every month.". That sounds pretty fair to me. Alexander

Even though i am buying the game the lack of dynamic campaign is a big step backwards and a big disapointment. Hopefully it will be added later. I just hope there will be good mod tools for making campaigns and missions. If not i fear that COD won't have the lifespan the previous title has. But we should keep in mind that the first IL2 Sturmovik was released with scripted missions. Dynamic campaign was added with Forgotten Battles expansion. Nevertheless, i expected a dynamic campaign in COD.
TAGES protection is actually not bad at all. Alot of known titles has used this earlier including The Witcher. 5 Activations is quite common and the same practise Eagle Dynamics uses amongst others.

That first patch is going to be one hell of a download. And when is that going to be available? Any speculation?

Well, let's be honest, the stock dynamic campaigns Il-2:FB introduced were not impressive. I used Lowengrin's 3rd party version instead. I'd rather get a good dynamic campaign later than a shoddy one on release.
The dynamic thing for LOMAC has indeed always rankled, but at this point we all know after 15+ yrs that ED won't make one so we can just accept it and move on. Oleg DID have one in Il-2 in the later releases, so we expect one in the new sim too.

What the hell does " a new install each month" mean? 5 new activations? Can't reinstall several times in a month? That'll be fun for modders and mod users when thing's get screwed up.
Ubisofts new ways of protection is getting more and more annoying. I've already skipped several games stamped Ubisoft. I will buy COD. This is a title i just gotta have but i feel like i'm gaming under a dictator and i'm really getting tired of Ubisoft's customers policy.

Activations traditionally means 'when you change something about the computer's fingerprint, i.e. hardware like CPU/Motherboard/GPU/HD' rather than not being able to re-install. A modder that screws things up won't need to reactive just by reinstalling the game lots of times on an unchanged bit of hardware. That's assuming it's just Tages like other people use it of course. (I'm off for a lie down, can't believe I'm defending a DRM scheme - I'm just happy it's Tages like DCS and not anything worse, i.e. I'd rather have a broken foot than an amputation...)

I know what activasions does. I was talking about the "new install each month" thing. It doesn't make any sence to me.

The Jedi Master True, I still use Lowengrin's DCG. And I'm sure eventually, this new sim will have one. Or, the next in the series after COD will have one. The point is, from all I read, COD was going to have a Dynamic Campaign on release. I was going to buy it release day, but now I'll wait until: a) a 3rd party campaign comes out or b) on official one comes out. I really hate that, since I was looking forward to a new sim in March. But looks like I'll be waiting a little longer (like I am with ROF). Not earth-shattering by any means...just a bit disappointing. As far as the DRM goes, nothing surprises me anymore. However, I really do love Thirdwire's DRM for the Strike Fighters series: NONE.

Well, I'm surprised they didn't even fit a basic "random mission generator with some continuinity" like DGEN was. If the scripted missions are of the "go there, shoot three aircraft, fly home" type, and replay mostly the same, the game will get boring quickly offline.
But then I guess the lack of such a feature again indicates that the focus for them lies with MP.
And anyway, I don't buy limited activation games. So that's it then, BoBII WoV remains.

I don't buy limited activation games. Same here. I'll get it when it's available on GOG.com though.
