So it's late April, you've been playing this sweet new WWII flight simulator (although your a little irked at false advertising, which claimed that you'd actually get to fly an IL-2, but I digress). And your thinking to yourself: "Self, how can I further indulge into this part of history" Horizon Hobby has the answer: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFL2975Details: 52" wingspan, 42" length Electric powered Retracts Split flaps Might have to pick one of these up (the plane, not the guy in the picture). It's a fantastic looking model, and a cure for the common mustang.

I love all Hurricanes, whatever scale. This one looks bloody marvellous How does she fly? I have a 10 acre field at the back of the house where I could fly such a beast, but this one may need more...

Agreed, it is a fantastic example of the hurricane, an aircraft sadly pushed into the shadows of history by big-brother spitfire. As far as how she flies? The planes not out yet, but if I had to guess, if shes like other Horizon foam park-flyers, she'll be like a fighter where you want it (fast, smooth, maneuverable), but more docile where you don't want a fighter (friendly stall characteristics, slows down well, lands without drama). She may do ok on 10 acres if your a somewhat experienced RC pilot. Do you have any experience?

Lovely. I've been thinking to get back into RC flying, maybe not right off with that one, but the prices on very decent semi-scale's like that are amazing. Ten years ago you'd have been wood-building those wings and either spent a fortune of time or money.

best way to get back in, or start, or just a great plane to have (in my opinion at least) is the Hobbyzone micro champ. http://secure.hobbyzone.com/HBZ4900.htmlnot bad for $90. One of those planes you can have a total rooking flying in no time, but still fun for the experienced pilot. Be warned though, these ultra micros can be addicting, what with planes like this being released: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZU1380 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZU1380Yes, Virgina, that is a mosquito with a 20" wingspan.

Nice neat job! Just what the Hurricane deserves. 1 Squadron 'B' was P3172 and there may have been several replacements for that particular squadron code letter in those hectic days. If you have made it P3172, it survived until 8th August 1940 when it was shot down after combat with a Bf110 over Sandown I.O.W., P/O J.A. Davey killed when overturning on Sandown golf course after a forced landing. But you probably checked that out already.

That's it! It's a model of a Battle of France job with the two-blade Watts propellor. Most had been replaced for three bladers by the time the Battle of Britain had started. The kit designers have done their homework. Nice F4U and Mossie too!

Wow, I've always wanted to give RC planes a try since I've been a little kid - have always had huge fascination with airplanes. Haven't thought to look on the latest tech in the RC stuff in quite awhile so those links to the electric micro's have got me excited! I'm definitely picking up one of the champs, I'm really going to be itching for some warmer weather so I can get out and fly it! I'm more excited about this "toy" than a grown man should be! Thanks for posting those up aggressorblue!

I have the P-51 and it's really fun to fly. It can stay up in the air for quite a long time, too, if you're easy on the 'gas'. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZ3680I bought a couple extra battery packs for it and have achieved 15 minute flights on one charge before. Great fun and quite nimble.
