My Caution Light Panel often shows EAC and NAV warning lights after completing Start Up procedures, and I need advice. I'm just not getting how to control these functions consistantly. I end up flipping the EAC: Arm / Off and RDR ALTM: NRM / DIS, and the CDU / EGI toggles but I don't understand the works, so end up pressing all the CDU buttons. I'm just a dumb hog driver I guess. halp meee WC

The EAC light is probably due to turning it on too soon. With the current BETA 4 one must wait until navigation alignment is complete. If I can find the information, I'll post it.

After seeing the Caution Panel lights, I get focused on the CDU and press all the Align and Nav and other buttons. This is likely after switching On the EAC and RDR, maybe several times. Sometimes it works for me..., so your explanation about leting things settle makes sense, but I want to understand the Why?, so... any help is welcome. WC

A Startup issue I've got is that the NAV data is not loaded after "load all" has been pushed. I see the bullets disappear 10sec and come back. after switching the IFFCC to "on" and going to the TAD page it says that there is no nav data. Never had this before beta4.

Youu won't get the NO Nav Data to go away until your INU ( Inertial Nav unit) is spooled up and aligned, look on your default CDU page after you do the DTS upload, and you'll see a line about halfwaydown that has a "T" and a time listed next to it, this is the align time, and it will align when that number reaches 4.0.0.8 or something like that, then the the INS NAV READY on top of CDU page will flash, hit the key next to the NAV funciton on CDU page, and then open your TAD page on the other MFCD, and you should have your map up, ( make sure the steerpoint select knob on right panel under the EGI switches is turned to flight plan) .... then you can turn your EAC on.... the EAC arm switch ( the second switch) won't arm until it gets a valid attitude reference from the INU... then looking down at your warning/ caution panel on right side, there should be no blue lights on , you're ready for takeoff! Oh remeber if you're going to change your weapon loadout, do it before you do the DTS upload, because you'll just have to do it all over again to get the correct weapons loadout on your DSMS page... hope this helps! i've been flying with some hardcore dudes in a virtual squadron, and I've been learning from some of the " veterans" from beta 1 !!!! Oh and yo can do the DTS upload at any point during the INU align time, it will just say NO NAV Data until the INU aligns, the DTS upload is just uploading all mission info, flight plan, weapons loadout, etc. from a digital tape cartridge.... unless like i said if you're changing the weapons loadout, do that first, then do the DTS upload!

You won't get the NO Nav Data to go away ... Thank You, Longbow! I saw that you posted this info on Wedge's Startup Reference thread, too - much appreciated. WC

Just to check if i got this right: - 1. Start the CDU and EGI (and the CICU, IFFCC and run UFC BIT. Load NAV Data once the CDU BIT is complete etc...)
- 2. Select CDU on the Right MFCD once powered on.
- 3. Wait for the "T" value to get to 4.0 0.8 on the CDU (when INS NAV READY is flashing)
- 4. Press NAV and select the TAD on the left MFCD
- 5. Select Flight Plan on the Steer point rotary
- 6. Arm the EAC
Is this correct? Also am i correct when saying I cannot taxi while the INU is aligning?

you are correct... and yes you must wait for the INU to fully align before taxiing...there's some more hardcore stuff like entering wind speed and direction into your CDU so your bombs can be more accurate... it's all over on the Eagle Dynamics forums... I learn more everyday! And I recommend reading up on the Air to Air mode and using your Sidewinders... you can uncage the AIM 9 seeker so it does a circular scan, that way if you know there's an enemy aircraft in front of you but you don't have time to lock it up with the TGP, then you have a good chance that the AIM 9 seeker will find target on it's own....three times during the campaign I've had SU-25's take me out because I couldn't lock them up with my sidewinders ....
